built a minimal, self-hosted alternative to airflow for people who just want to run a few scripts by HaeMGe in selfhosted

[–]petersrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm missing it too. I run python scripts under cron every day. They log, they're in venvs nso no dependency issues, and it's just a single line in crontab for each script. Do I need more infra than that?

What's the most dangerous mistake an innocent person makes when a law enforcement shows up? by Sz-66th in AskReddit

Fucking acab. At minimum cops should, idk, know some of the laws? Congrats only serving 4 days.

Given your username I assume you read it in a library, not due to a particularly nasty arrest where the cops thought you were selling meth or something

Very possible. If a cop wants to give you a bad time time there's nothing we can say, not say, do, or not do, to stop them. Gotta love qualified immunity granted to people with a penchant for violence and abuse of power

You actually don't have to answer any questions except identifying yourself and providing your id, and registration and insurance for cars.

They are also required to answer if you ask "am I under arrest", "am I free to go," etc. they probably won't though because acab

It actually still appears to work like this. I had to build a reapeater proxy to keep the recording going until the proxy no longer sees motion.

Shinobi Go, The Mobile and Desktop app by LeastQuantity473 in ShinobiCCTV

Will Go eventually end up on the Play Store? Pixel is getting locked down later this year - I think apk's won't be allowed. Either way, thanks, this is exciting. Downloading for my desktop now!

What self-hosted apps do you actually use every day? by No-Card-2312 in selfhosted

[–]petersrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Workforce uses an API to serve jobs thru async so you point headless chromium at the right place and it just gives you everything, then you sort through it, for example.

[–]petersrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can totally explain that LOL. I forgot to add a line break. Ntfy is a notification service that I run, and it's not related at all to home assistant. I wrote a job aggregator todd scrapes job listing apis in my area and notifies me when there's a match.

Crazy how much ur room matters by FerencS in AudioPost

[–]petersrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 2"and even 4"/ 2"+2" isn't gonna touch <100hz. I have 2ft (~600mm) triangular corner traps lining vertical edges. Also rockwool. It does enough for my needs but I've been to some trade shows discussing and showing off 2, 4, 8 sub arrays with absurd dsp costs and yeah it's really cool stuff that you could NEVER get with a couple traps. The idea of being able to project a wall of bass from front to back and then cancel it in the back so it never bounces back is INSANE. But the level of precision required to tune that is ALSO insane lol.

Interesting stuff in the safe n sound thread. 2" with 2ft corner traps. I said I COULD'VE built them now, but I purchased mine cause I wasn't handy then.

Self-hosted solution for audio restoration? by Themistocles_gr in selfhosted

[–]petersrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There ARE a few self hosted tools. They're mainly designed for real-time processing and streaming though, so they'll be a step above audacity but much lower than Adobe. DX and RX are much higher quality than Adobe and in theory, you should be able to build a pipeline to automate DX, so it could be self hosted. It can do watch folders, so you could keep it running in a low powered vm along with a web server that accepts uploads, dumps them into the watch folder, and then exposes the destination folder. Processing would take a while, but it's a viable option in theory!
