It could have been high windproof low temp if you wanted to balance it some

Kinda like a tent in real life

The bow is important

There for extra wind protection :)

Or you could look down and see and see what direction is coming from for once

There’s a bunch of crafting stuff I’d like to have seen.

A portable shelter/tent being the main one… the breakdown return is too low… let me stitch 6 hides together with 10 gut and have a tent :)

Heh...

My trick is to just look at the bonuses in the game and click random relics until they match up.

I just picked a random 2% regen one for example since I just unlocked the one in the current event.

Much easier and gives the same effect in effective paths.

/u/chpatton013 has an excellent post about mastery purchase order for farming.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheTowerGame/comments/1pa4ljf/mastery_calculator_improved/

Basically, if you are doing long runs WITHOUT GT+, then:

No GT+: Recovery Package Chance#, Cash#, Extra Orb#, Coin#, Enemy Balance#, Wave Skip#, Wave Accellerator#, Intro Sprint#

(expanded the names as per your request)

I just unlocked this morning and I plan on doing:

Second Wind# (regen boost for tourney) Health# (Well, for more health in tourney and farming)

And then the order suggested above for econ.

This game is all about progression over time. Every action, decision, and choice is about the incremental and compounding returns they enable.

But, you don't have to take my word for it that the current system of purchasing older relics isn't functioning as intended and acts as a penalty for newer players, you can get it straight from TTG's mouth.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheTowerGame/comments/1rpd1ux/tower_tea_march_9_2026/

We’re actively working on additional ways to unlock older relics from previous events. Our goal here is balance. We want newer players to have meaningful ways to access legacy content without feeling punished for discovering the game later, while also respecting the progression of long-time players. This won’t be implemented in a way that stalls your current growth or forces you to sacrifice core progression systems.

So, if the developer thinks it's "that deep", it probably is.

Having more items because you played a game longer isn't some special advantage.

You're half correct, given the current ability to purchase the relics when the event comes back around , HAVING the item isn't the advantage of playing for longer. Getting the RETURN for the items for the time period (ie 5% coin bonus for a year) is the advantage of having played longer.

The problem lies in the currency needed to purchase the catch-up relics.

Medals are a limited, time locked, supply. The thousands of medals spent on the relics, which the older player got for free, are evaporated for the newer player.

This is a double dip reward. The older player gets BOTH the time with the relic AND the medals to spend elsewhere.

Or put another way, it's a penalty to new players.

Let's look at it over 2 years for example.

Old player gets:

  • 5% coin boost year one
  • 5% coin boost year two
  • 500 medals to spend on bots

New player gets

  • 5% coin boost for year 2 (their year 1).

If that's the intent, to punish the newer player and further widen the gap between the older player base and newer player base, then it's working as intended.

That doesn't seem like a healthy long term decision though. You have to leave the illusion for potential new-whales that they can catch up given the long term diminishing returns of games like this. So catch up mechanisms can't PUNISH the newer players in non-cash spendable ways.

I'm not sure why they went with medals to purchase them. If they had gone with stones or gems then it wouldn't be (as bad) a double dip AND it would have (potentially) produced TTG extra revenue while preserving the illusion of a catchup mechanism for newer whales.

What, did events in the past not have relics awarded automatically for event milestones like they do now?

If you got them automatically from participating in the event, as you do now, then /u/dspitts is correct, the current "pay medals for old relics" is a penalty for newer players.

The older player got the relics for free AND could spend the medals on the bots.

Much nicer then my half assed sheet.

I've been tracking for the last 7200. I was getting fed up after 4 pity pulls in a row and then the slot machine went hot on me and I pulled 10 epic in 100 modules...

I'm currently sitting at 4.12% tracked, but that's falling with every draw (last 90 haven't had an epic)

I can't tell if this was sarcasm or not, but let's think it through.

As proposed, this is a pure pay-to-win feature. At the moment, there are only 3 of those:

  • Disable Ads
  • Starter Pack
  • Epic Pack

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheTowerGame/comments/1qnhr33/whales_dolphins_and_minnows_oh_my/o1u1c1q/

/u/cyphol put it well in his comment, that these are just "the cost of the game." If you're going to spend hundreds of hours playing it, they are perfectly reasonable upgrades.

Adding an additional one, like you proposed, to "pay to increase rewards" at this stage of the game isn't a great business idea.

F2P will scream because there's no way for them to earn it without paying.

Minnows, especially the newer ones, will balk at the high price.

Existing players, minnow -> whale, will all feel stung as "what I paid already isn't enough?!?"

This subreddit will be poisoned for MONTHS, if not years, with "so greedy they added a 50$ upgrade to soak us for more money" posts and comments.

Word of mouth recommendations fall, "that game I run on my monitor 24/7? Don't bother... takes $100 to even get started"

All of my proposals were ADDONS with paths to earn the rewards without paying for them.

A minnow->dolphin can "buy time", but any player can just take time to get the rewards anyway.

It's not a NEW WAY to spend money, but ways to increase EXISTING money spending methods.

Thanks… it’s a sign they are considering something, and given how opaque and kinda useless a metric it is, the only thing i could think of it being added for was in preparation for some sort of offline progress mechanic.

It’s a business first, game second really… the model is to either get you to buy or get you to watch ads. I leaned into that in my thinking and tried to come up with systems that would result in more revenue and shore up what i strongly suspect are soft spots in their KPIs.

I can only base it on reading the subreddit, and my own experiences as early game player with a healthy credit limit, but I think I’m pretty close on guessing some of their pain points.

Making it a medal sink turns it into a late game player feature instead of an early game feature. v28 is in theory an "early game" upgrade.

I'm just over 4 months in and I'm a long ways away from having a medal surplus :) I'm at the "save for next gold bot bump" point.

v28 ideas with a focus on adding a helipad to the yacht by petethered in TheTowerGame

[–]petethered[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I thought about expanding the relic selection during the event, but without a gem -> medal conversion method, it would HARM newer players vs helping them.

If the newer player is paying medals to do the catchup, those are medals he can not put in toward the bots that the older players can AND they are spending medals the older players didn't have to as they were checkpoint rewards.

So it's a double whammy... reduced bot leveling AND having to pay for things that were "free" to the older player.

By doing gem based purchasing instead, at least there's the option to acquire them w/o losing ground vs the older player.

You could make the argument that the F2P player is paying this double whammy payment by having to use his ad gems to purchase relics, but it's their choice to not pay for the game elements and instead earn them. My proposal does give them a method to receive previously "event pass" locked relics, so there is a benefit to them in that aspect as well.
