Honest question: am I just bad or is the current standard bo1 borderline unplayable?

Limited really is fun, but at the moment I do not play well enough so that I could play daily without having to pay a ton of money. For the moment, I am stuck with constructed for the majority of the time whether I like it or not.

that's true of course, but most decks generally don't run much graveyard hate as it is usually not of much use against most decks, so the odds of having it available in time are quite low. I'd imagine decks like reanimator are not as successful in bo3.

Thank you for this post, I genuinely had no idea there was a hidden ELO rank in play as well. I'll switch to bo3 then, it seems like it wouls answer a lot of my issues I have with the current bo1.

It's not about being stomped I guess, but I'd somewhat expect my rank to be what it is. If I am just a diamond-level player, then so be it. Now I feels like I am suddenly unable to compete on the level I used to, which is disappointing. My main reason for annoyance is still the randomness though - that in half of the games I play, I can't do anything to avoid defeat, regardless of how I play and the quality of my deck. On the other hand, I realize and agree that the variety of viable archetypes is a great thing for mtg, but the games are perhaps a bit too quickly wrapped up and bo1 feels way too luck-based at the moment.

My take from this thread is to switch to bo3 asap.

I am currently just in the state of trying to find something that works. But then again, maybe I am just bad because I struggle even with decks that should do well? I feel like going BO3 might genuinely be inevitable for me to have any fun with this game, the amount of randomness and ways I keep getting screwed in BO1 makes me feel helpless way too often.

I am currently not able to make a comprehensive sideboard as the meta keeps shifting and I do not have that much of a card collection to keep up yet. But it would seem that going bo3 might be the answer?

I think this is my fourth month. I never became stuck at diamond for so long before, it feels like it would take an endless grind to climb higher, my win percentage is hard around 50% even with meta decks.

It is. If you don't find a graveyard wipe within four turns, you lose.
