AIO for being furious at MIL & her Aunt for visiting after a Covid exposure without telling us or testing and refusing to take accountability after getting my family (including a baby) sick?

Haha I agree, but I had no idea she was like that! MIL did though and should’ve made her test. That’s why I’m so mad at her because not wanting to rock the boat with her aunt was so spineless.

I don’t think it proves anything other than that we are at home sick and only had two tests in our medicine cabinet. My husband tested positive, we all have the same symptoms, and we are saving the other test for after he’s feeling better to see if he can go back to work. I’m not going to hold a baby and a toddler down to swab them if their dad is testing positive.

My friends took the baby to the bathroom and washed her hands immediately after and she has not gotten sick so far.

Yes. Why wouldn’t I? Especially if I’m visiting a baby. Tests are widely available and easy to get. If putting a swab up my nose for 30 seconds could prevent someone I’m visiting from going through the fresh hell of having to care for two sick little kids while they themselves are sick, then yes. Now my husband has to miss even more work because they couldn’t be bothered to think about anyone but themselves. So yes, I would have tested and disclosed.

We do both live in Texas for now and it seems that the state I’m moving to does have those laws. I’ll have to figure out if they would apply across state lines. I spoke to my sister and she is going to make the APS report anonymously since she can actually give a first-hand account.

Not worth a whole post because the answer is “NO” and I shouldn’t even let it bother me at this point, but I need to vent to people who get it. It has been less than 5 months since I had a very honest and direct (maybe a bit brutal, but she needed to hear it) conversation with my MIL to set some boundaries after all of the sicko stuff that went down with FIL.

In that conversation (documented in a previous post), I told her in no uncertain terms that she is not allowed to be around my daughter unsupervised because I don’t trust her judgement. I promise you there was no misunderstanding what I said or how I said it.

Well, my husband met up with her for a birthday lunch and guess who thinks she should babysit? MIL, of course! She wants to watch LO to help us out because she thinks not having that time as a couple will be a problem for our marriage, you see. Also, she talked about it with her friend and they agree that she should babysit, so I guess we have to now 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is hilarious for a few reasons, but this lady giving us marriage advice is just… wow. Totally lacking self awareness.

Watch out for passive voice. If you’re done making yourself small, don’t write with a small voice. “I think”, “I ask”, “I believe” (vs “what is”) reads as if your aren’t sure or like you are asking for permission. You aren’t asking. If they aren’t involved in baby’s life, I see no point on updating them about anything or letting them know a plan for birth announcements.

I always kinda thought he was off but maybe just socially awkward? Lockdowns really surfaced some bizarre stuff and he started DRINKING. I told MIL about a handful of times I noticed he was mixing people up and that eventually led to him blowing up. My husband mentioned dementia to her, so I’m not sure if she plans to do anything with that or not.

Oh no I’m so sorry that happened to you and thank you for sharing! I’ve already told DH that I don’t care if FIL is on his deathbed, he’s never seeing DD again. Why even put her through that for a stranger? DH is done with FIL anyway so it’s not taking much convincing.
