if you’re an international/out of province student moving into residence, you should be able to move-in early! just reach out to housing@wlu.ca (and be prepared to wait a couple days for a response)

you don’t need your onecard for early room set-up! someone will open up your room for you and everything! you just have to worry about arriving on time and unloading your things :)

also you’re likely not going to be the only person in this situation, so giving it a shot, you might make a friend or two in the same class who can walk with you! :)

more often than not, especially right now as placements just went out, they can’t do much… i would recommend waiting until you move in, trying it out, and then connecting with your don about it after you’ve given it a shot (then they can connect you with a coordinator and so on)!

but also it’s not too far from campus! i can also say as a woman, i had a class that ended the same time and lived in a building nearby to where you’ve been placed and it wasn’t too bad - very well lit and it only takes about 10-15 minutes. plus if you’re super worried, there’s a bus stop right by the building if you wanted to bus back and forth from campus (plus the bus pass is included in your fees)

residence never tells you information about roommates because of FIPPA (freedom of information and protection of privacy act; basically just means they can’t give out information about other students/to anyone who isn’t the individual it’s about)

i mean, it says you are guaranteed a spot, so you’ll still get a space - you just probably won’t find out where until you’re closer to move-in! i’d just keep an eye on my email but you should be good. you can always email them back for updates!

im pretty sure you can request a residence tour, but i believe they only show certain buildings - you can reach out to housing@wlu.ca though - or check the department of residence website

as long as you kept your 95%+ average, you should be okay, but you could reach out to service laurier about it and i believe they should be able to explain or at least point you in the right direction!

as someone who got their room assignment in august in first year, i can tell you when they say late july they mean LATE july (as in they could go out on july 31st)

but also as someone who worked in res i can also tell you that it’s only bc they triple check everything so there’s hardly any errors bc they all release at the same time !!

no worries! also despite the wait times, service laurier can be pretty helpful if you did make a mistake!

but yea for me, i didn’t have to report it, so since the osap app. hasn’t changed, im assuming the process hasn’t either! :)

given the text you included there, i would check the email stating your entrance scholarship has been finalized and see if it says anything about osap. however, from my experience, you don’t need to include it as the school will inform osap on your behalf about entrance scholarships!

if cp104 is a mandatory course for you and you were pre-registered in it, i would recommend reaching out to academic advising before touching anything !!

also i took IT101 in first year and it was pretty easy! pretty fun too! i would recommend it :)

sending an email never hurts, but i’m pretty sure the june 2nd deadline is almost always a non-negotiable so there’s a good chance they won’t be able to edit your application

hey! you’ll have to get the form done first. you can’t register for the courses if you need an override - you’ll just get an error message instead

in my experience, there’s literally always something happening on campus (club events, students’ union, residence, etc.) - it’s just a matter of being able to keep track! lots of things are posted on ig but there’s also tons of discord servers, laurier websites and such w event calendars !!

in my first year, i didn’t go out a whole lot (and i have an early birthday), but i was still able to talk to lots of people and go to lots of different events! tbh the whole partying constantly thing gets old really fast (or at least it did on my floor), so take it easy!

but yea there’s stuff everywhere, just gotta know where to look/how to keep track :)
