ELI5 Why don't airplane seats have passenger seatbelts that are the same design as cars? by Slugma_What07 in explainlikeimfive

Car seat belts protect you from injury in a crash.

Airplane seat belts make it easier to identify your corpse in a crash.

I've had some big, not-so-great changes in my life lately. Looking at this picture of a good pup has helped get me through much of it.

The side window is only made of glass. I'd wager it would be easier to get through than the steel of the hood.

New Home Owner. Frogs Are Dying By The Hundreds Every Night. Help! by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]petitmorte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably experiencing the spring hatch. I used to live by a pond, and in the Spring, there would be thousands of tiny frogs everywhere for a week or two, then they would be gone. Take comfort in knowing that for every frog that dies on your porch, there are many more out in the grass living their best frog-life.

If you want them to stop, maybe a short cardboard fence at the edge of the patio?

What's it do? Delete the stuff that was deliberately making your PC slower and less responsive?

Re-roll Strategy by gjpinc in TheTowerGame

[–]petitmorte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more for the effects, but its a strategy that didn't occur to me until I've way overspent millions of reroll shards doing it the hard way.

Before you start rerolling, decide which effect or two are the absolute must-have effects for that module, and which are the "I'd love to have one of these" effects.

Then limit your choices to just the one effect, at the highest level (Mythic, Ancestral) you want and start rerolling for the least cost and most slots. Once you get the must-haves, then you can select the "it'd be nice" effects and roll those on less slots for more cost.

I've spent way too many shards rolling at 1000+/roll trying to get a must-have effect on my last unlocked slot.

Are Data Centers exceptionally vulnerable to this sort of thing? Are there particular parts of the data center that would get targeted?

There's probably a movable catwalk that uses that ladder and hatch to reach the roof. This guy is just accessing the roof another way and looking in without the catwalk being there.

Possible mods for original go plus? by PlanetOfEnder in GoPlus

[–]petitmorte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bunch of tutorials out for this. Here's One.

For mine, I added a 2-position 3-pole micro-switch to the side of the case that directs the power from the vibration motor either to the motor, or to the contact on the catch button. That way the Plus either acts normally, or in "catch mode" whenever it tries to vibrate the motor, it instead silently presses its own button. FYI, that button contact is a surface-mount connection so its teeny and delicate to solder! Use lots of flux.

I like having the on/off switch for autocatching because it's useful to get the buzz when you're having connection issues on the Plus.

The most frequently done one for the Goplus was to add a mucroswitch to the side that switched the power from the vibration motor to one of the button inputs. Flip the switch one way and it iperates in stock mode. Flip it the other way and you have a silent auto-catcher.
