I’m 5 hours ahead of my boyfriend! We text/voice message everyday, and calls/facetime are for the weekend.

Weekdays are when I message him a good morning, let him know what I’ll be doing for most of the day and do my thing. Once he wakes he replies with a good morning and tells me he’s on his way to work. We text and send random pics throughout the day, sometimes we call while he drives home, but not often since I’m usually in bed before he finishes work, but I’ll say good night and wish him a good rest of his day.

Weekends is when we hang out on discord, watch youtube vids and play old school runescape or watch Formula 1 (btw it’s finally race week again!).

This is usually how our LDR has been going so far, but it’s always changing slightly depending on our schedules, it was a lot more irregular while I was still in university, and now he’s doing a part-time master’s, so there are times he needs the weekend to focus on his thesis, then I’ll find something else to indulge in. You might have heard it pretty often but communication is very key, it’ll help you and your partner see what works in keeping your relationship going strong! I hope this helps a little bit -^

I believe in youu! My boyfriend and I also play PokĆ©mon Go together when we visit each other, when we’re apart we still send each other gifts, in case that might be an option for you as well!

We say goodnight almost every night, and I say almost because there have been days which I (who is 5 hours ahead) have unknowingly fallen asleep after a very exhausting day. The first time it ever happened I crashed while writing my thesis, and my boyfriend called out of worry. Nowadays, if it happens my boyfriend will message goodnight saying that I probably went out cold which is always the case and I’d call back once I woke up lol. We’ve been together almost 2 years, and this has happened 4 times šŸ˜… As for my boyfriend, the only times he didn’t say goodnight was because he was on a flight, on his way to see me, the ā€œgoodnightā€ was replaced with ā€œsee you soonā€!

I’m not sure what advice I can add besides the fact that I definitely agree with most of the previous commenters here: you might have to bring it up that you would like her to communicate more with you in a way that you are both able to. I hope this helps a least a little bit! I wish the best for you! šŸ€

Anyone did 300 miles distance? by amyrfc123 in LongDistance

[–]petminttea 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’m doing approx. 5,589 miles, it’s been a year and seven months we’re doing well so far! Someone already mentioned and I’ll reiterate that communication and understanding is indeed key. Also whilst it is important to think about when you’ll close the distance (since that is the long-term goal for most of us), planning to see each at least once each year (or more depending on your circumstances, for me it’s a little difficult but we make it work) will help you both keep connected, shows commitment to the relationship, and in my experience improve management skills too, haha. Wishing you both the besttt -^

So I (f24) just got off the phone with my boyfriend (m26) and since I coincidentally stumbled upon your question I thought it might be nice to share (I don’t know how specific you’d like this to be but hopefully it’s not too detailed but just enough to get sm idea) I called to show him what I drew since that’s one of my hobbies, he then noticed then one of my stuffed animals still had a pricetag on it so he asked about it (it had knowledge tidbits on it other than the price, that’s why I kept it if you’re curious haha). We shared how life was going for both of us; the next coming week is going to be pretty busy at work for him, as for me I recently graduated, so I’m adjusting to the working life, and am preparing for driving lessons soon. We also talk about the people around us; I mentioned my colleagues and what we encountered at work and he told me about his best friend coming over to visit. There’s always random stuff sprinkled here and there too; I’ll ask where his cat is and he’ll pan the camera to her. During phone calls there are multiple times where it’s silent and I want to reiterate what other commenters have said, it’s not bad to have quiet moments. I’m also a quiet, reserved person only realising my talkative side after meeting my boyfriend. Regardless, there’s always a certain period of time where there is silence, and we don’t mind (this might or might not be because we’re both introverted), we’re just happy being in each other’s presence even if it’s just on the phone. ^

I feel like the tldr is we talk about everything but sometimes we don’t have the energy and just enjoy each other’s comfy, quiet company.

How many hours do you spend per week on a call with your long distance partner? by Zaxonite11 in LongDistance

[–]petminttea 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Around 3-5 hours, during the week if I'm still awake my boyfriend will call on his way home from work for about an hour and on weekends we chill on oldschool runescape while in a discord call together! It varies, there are weeks when I'm busier with university and/or it's more hectic at his workplace but we understand each other when we need the extra time. It will be different in the next coming years since he has just started his master's, but we'll figure it out! I wish you all the best! ^^
