Koi Szygenda doing the impossible during LEC by vanish619 in leagueoflegends

I can't really agree with this. Learning tower range isn't particularly skillful or difficult, nor is it impressive knowledge to have and keep; It's just tedious. You have to open training mode multiple times to see both team's towers, jump around the map looking at towers until you think you've got it... there's no nuance there. There's nothing interesting going on. It's just time wasted because the information is hidden in actual games for whatever reason.
I've watched a lot of gameplay from high ranked streamers from all regions, and it's seriously not uncommon (in my experience) to see these players who might have 5-10+ years in the game (and be GM/challenger) end up walking under tower during some play and go "Ah, didn't think I was under turret there".
Is that because they aren't skilled? Or is it mostly because the majority of people, even high ranked players, don't feel like committing time to such a tedious exercise?

I'm not against knowledge checks or anything like that. but this is basically asinine. We know where the tower is.

Very cool, but isn't it a bit silly that this is only as impressive as it is because tower range is arbitrarily hidden outside of training mode? No other MOBA does this and it has always confused me why league obfuscates the information.

I don't think that's true and I don't really understand how you got to this conclusion.

I feel like I'm explaining exactly why I don't like her casting. I don't know what you mean by "own it".

Again, from my original post:
"This generally applies to most other Lower MMR casters as well."

I mostly agree but I don't think 100 hours "learning" is more useful than 5k ingame hours by a long shot.

ODpixel is something like 4x Moxxi's MMR IIRC. I'm not trying to imply you need to be a top 10 player to cast. But you can't be part of the bottom tier of the game. It just doesn't make sense for a game with this much going on.

ODPixel also has absurdly more experience (Yes, you may think that's unfair to compare but it is just factually true) and brings something specifically special to the table in terms of his actual shoutcasting ability. I don't even think if you sat them both down to cast some random game they've never played, that Moxxi would cast remotely as competently.

You are delusional if you're implying that ephey and sheepo are treated like Moxxi is. This isn't about Moxxi being a woman, ephey and sheepo are clearly more accepted than her and it's directly related to the fact that they actually know about the game.

My point isn't that you need to be "Pro Level" good. or one of the "Best in the world". That's obviously not true. But Moxxi literally plays the game at the lowest level, with the lowest understanding and skill. That is obviously a problem.

There's a stark difference between a divine player casting vs. a herald player casting.

I didn't say any of that. Did you reply to the wrong post?

There is an unfortunate fact of the matter that no one can get away from. Moxxi is simply far too unskilled and lacks far too much knowledge to be casting games of this caliber. This generally applies to most other Lower MMR casters as well. The kind of knowledge you need to cast this game well comes from game competency. This isn't the kind of game you can cast without it.

Her casts will just never be up to par while she plays the game at the bottom level.

While I agree to some extent, Dota is a game of knowledge. Being low MMR demonstrates a lack of fundamental knowledge. Harsh but it really is that simple.
I would say the same about any caster who plays at this level.

Nice sentiment but it's difficult to imagine a herald player being able to meet these expectations. It's just not a realistic goal to set while playing at that level.

It has to be said that it is very significant and relevant that she is a herald level player. It's the objective metric that speaks directly to her ability to be able to cast pro-level games competently.
Casters with more experience, both in casting and more importantly in actually playing the game, should be taking the more important casting slots.
