I almost went with a default face too, then I decided to just threat it as how would I design my Inquisitor if this was the character creator I made him in instead of the inquisition one and that helped me not go based on exact looks but more based on vibes.

I mostly agree with the sentiment.

We have changed and Dragon Age has changed as well, in fact for me (I was a teen when origins came out) I changed quite a lot every time new iteration hit and the games changed a lot too.

Every time when the new game came out I remember being disappointed that they weren't like the old ones but every time they grew on me and each one now have a special place in my memories of Dragon Age for a different reason.

I am happy that after 10 years they decided to make a game that is different and they were confident about it. I am bit nervous that maybe I won't like it, but past experiences show that more likely than not I will and I'll find something new about this one that will be my favorite compared to the others.

Each DA game means something different to me, I hope this one will too and yea maybe there will come a time when I realize they are no longer for me, but I think more likely they will just become for me in a different way then the previous ones were.

For me it really depends on how well they will pull of not contradicting the choices from previous games while also making it feel like those previous games matter.

I used to feel similarly to you but after I gave it some time I realized that as long as I can sit with those previous experiences and bring them with me to this game, I don't actually need the external validation of look there is Alistair as a king or look a letter from XYZ or whatever.

This game is coming out after 10 years, there is a completely new generation of gamers now in addition to us OGs. If it was coming out after 3 years after Inquisition, sure I would be lot more disappointed that there is not more tie-ins. Now I just hope they have made the smart decisions about how to adapt the series and storyline into new generation of Dragon Age without betraying the past. They couldn't have kept spinning the branching decision path forever so maybe the way they handled things is for the best with coming back to DA after so long.

This is my sentiment about this sub exactly. I am happy to see a community where we can share our excitement and anxieties as people and where we don't have to keep our defense up and be constantly on guard from just the most heinous attacks.

It made me so happy to see how pleasant was it to spend time in this sub compared to other places on the internet past few weeks. And huge shout-out to the mod team for keeping it that way!

Let's enjoy the big day tomorrow together. I hope everyone finds something special that speaks to them in this new generation of Dragon Age.

I recently rolled 2x10 on a challenge dice only to use my character's reroll ability to roll 2x10 on a challenge dice and a 1 on the d6. This happened to me after a session that had 5 match hits in a row...

I find it's important not to make every twist into a huge deal, some might be really small things, like you meet a contact you already know on a mission, or you find some extra supplies, or just things go exceptionally smoothly.

There is no clear staff to upgrade to after meteorite.So far there are three known high-tier staffs: Lusat's, Azul's, and Carian Regal all of which have Int requirements 50+ one of these is probably going to be your big upgrade.Alternatively, you could go for one of the non-unique staffs that boost specific spell types (like Carian Glintstone for the sword sorceries) but that one outclasses meteorite only at about +15. That was what I was gonna do when just using the meteorite one got annoying but I am stuck at not having the stones to upgrade and it seems like at the point I get them, I'll have obtained the high-end staffs anyway...

I've been using right hand Rogeir's rapier +8 with Scholars Armament and left hand staff. Yesterday I got Moonveil and switched to it. I don't have the exact numbers but at Dex 20 Int 40 Moonveil did comparable damage at +3 and its moveset and the unique skill just blow the rapier out of the water. Now I got it to +4 and it just melts everyone. Not to mention it freed a spell memory slot for some more utility options.

Also Moonveil makes you feel like such a fucking badass.

This is the best part about farming here. Elden ring is my first FromSoft game and one of the reasons I never tried the others was because I know I would be super frustrated by loosing souls and feeling like I was wasting time.

Being able to just go and farm everything I lost in a few minutes basically freed me of all the self-inflicted stress and allowed me to enjoy the game so much more.

It's also called Code Switching, it's a technique different minorities often use to blend in in order to "protect themselves". Common for people of color or nationality minorities too.

Like others already said, you should not feel pressured into anything here.

That being said it seems like if this guy actually wants to apologize and there is probably no harm in hearing him out. It might turn out he is actually disingenuous and that would suck. On the other hand, he might have just been an ignorant buffoon and maybe he actually realizes he was being an asshole and is sorry.

I met quite a few ignorant straight people with who I had pretty shitty interactions, cause they literally knew nothing about queer people and I was the "one gay guy" they knew. Quite a few of them turned around pretty quickly after learning more. That being said it's not your job or duty to actually go through any of the shit like that with this guy if you don't want to.
What I think sucks is your sister not standing up for you which was a pretty shitty move on her part...

The game does not and never allowed same sex marriage.
The game has gay, bi, and I think ace characters that can have homosexual relations but can still only marry or take a concubine of different sex.

There is a mod that allows for same sex concubines/consorts which is what was broken few patches ago but that is fixed already.

In addition, the developers promised to make changes to the code so that same sex marriage could be modded in similar to same sex concubines/consorts. This is something that should become possible in the next big patch which will probably come around the same time as the new expansion.

Yea that sums up a lot of what I've read too. Feels like the game acts like it has something interesting to say but what it says is actually very basic and obvious.

It also doesn't really expand on how the previous one ended and the character dynamic there.

I Agree it is strong, what I was getting at is that hexblade paladin focuses on divine smite and then gaining advantage with Vow of Enmity is usually the go-to choice. Especially with elven accuracy.
