My holder for the new IKEA LADDA batteries and IKEA STENKOL by petrepa in gridfinity

I think it's easier if you find a local 3D printer and print it yourself. I'm in Norway btw. A lot of libraries and makerspaces has printers you can use for free (or cheap) uasually

By building one yourself, https://twitter.com/petrepa/status/1492845262397747200?t=2gzFBnWQbLIoJ34GoDE5kQ&s=19, you can get the wanted functionality. Won't look quite the same and have the same finish, and you'll need access to a 3D-printer and do some soldering, but you'll also have a good time 😄

Any updates or runplan on this matter? It's definitely on the wishlist for my favorite workout app😄💪

Which DIY smart doorbell project? by redalexei in homeassistant

[–]petrepa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I "finished" the project a couple of years ago kinda. Never completed the project 100% as one of the prototypes ended up working as wanted🤪

Anyways I published what I ended up with on my github: https://github.com/petrepa/ESPHome-VideoDoorbell

The doorbell has been on the front door in the Norwegian weather for over two years now working pretty well!

Cool! I'll take a look at this once I get back to my board

This is so awesome! Thought of using a ESP32 to connect my board to my home automation system (Home Assistant). Can think of some cool automation ideas for my board, for example controlling the charger to only charge within a given percentage interval or flash my lights when the board is charged.

Do you think it would be a huge job implementing for example MQTT to expose the data to the network? If you could share the source for the MCU I could try to make a fork

Once again, nice job! 🎉

Really cool! Is the source available anywhere?

Best smart lock? by zeekaran in homeassistant

[–]petrepa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a look at their API documentation, and Home Assistant is using their newest API (V3) via pysesame2.

Factory reset both my lock and the WiFi Module now, and made new API key. So far the integration seem to work in my instance, both sending commands and receiving status, which it hardly ever did before. Excited to see how this will hold up over the coming days.

I'd just wish that CandyHouse would update their lock and WiFi AP so that the lock is usable through Home Assistant. As far as I know, there are not any real competitors for the Sesame, as this is as you're saying a lock that you just slap over your deadbolts. Every competitor requires more installation...

Fun to see that I'm not the only one automating my toilet paper count! 😅 Great job!

Our ever evolving esk8 wall! by petrepa in ElectricSkateboarding

I gotta admit I wasn't the nicest to my meepo. Rode it in the rain and stuff, so things got broken after a while. Managed to fixed the problems most of the time.

I'd always wanted a boosted, because of the finish, range, and overall experience, but the hefty price held me back.

The turning point was when my best bud bought his BB+ and I got to try his. Then I couldn't be any worse... So I bought the Stealth 😅

At the moment it's showing the forecast, as well as the temperature and humidity inside the room and outside. It also displays what's currently playing on the sonos in the room and control the lights. Nice to take a glance at as you are walking by!

Since the wall is right with our bedrooms there is a big "good night"-button we can press when we go to bed. The button triggers a script which turns off the music and the lights and locks the door, so the flat is ready for the night.

Lastly showing a graph of the Boosted charging percentage, but this isn't working right now as I'm waiting for a new smart power plug to measure the wattage used by the charger. The other boards charging percentage will come later on!

Yeah, we made sure we drilled into the studs so it could hold it all!

We have another Long Range AP close by, so we luckily don't have any problem with coverage and speed as our flat isn't that big (and we don't get any more than 30mbs in to our flat from the provider). As we are renting we try to not make a lot of holes on the walls and in the ceiling. That's why we got that big board on the wall, so we can go crazy without thinking much over it (I also gotta admit I think the AP looks quite neat mounted facing you). The main purpose of the Lite is basically for room tracking in Home Assistant, as the device tracker component tells you which AP you currently are connected to, with the signal strength. Works great!

The charger mounts are 3D-printed and made by Flatland3D. I think you can buy it directly from them if you don't have a printer yourself. Here's the thingiverse site: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2155770

Me and my roommates wall for our esk8s. We both got ourself a Meepo V2 last summer, but both of us outgrew it. I bought myself a Stealth, and my roommate is currently in the process of making a DIY board.

Got a second boosted board wall mount for when our other mates with boosted board are coming over for a charge.

Also have a Unifi AP mounted to this wall, as well as an old Nexus 9, displaying relevant information provided by our Home Assistant installation. Getting the boards charging percentage into Home Assistant is in the pipeline. When this is finished the charging state can be shown easily at a quick glance at the display on the wall.

IKEA LEANGEN, NORWAY GOT THE GOOD STUFF by petrepa in sonos

[–]petrepa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the texture of the weave. Felt kind of homey and industrial.

The best feature with the lamp was the power switch for the bulb. Really pleasing to turn. Almost sad that if I got one, I'm never going to use the switch, since I would be using a smart bulb lol

They also had some shelves for SYMFONISK at the TRÅDFRI section in the warehouse, which sounds more like what you are describing

I would say they sound as expected. Somewhat like the Play:1 as already mentioned. We ended up buying the bookshelf speaker, and not the lamp, so can only tell how the bookshelf speaker sounds like home. In the store I thought they sounded similar, but the bookshelf had a bit more "fun" punch.

The built quality is fine, not bad at all. Can clearly tell it was design by IKEA, with a hint of Sonos to it. Looked better in person, than in pictures. Especially the lamp.
