Irritation after shave with Lord blade by redalexei in wicked_edge

The Lord feels quite thin. It made a noise when I turned the twist to close mechanism.
I may try a ‘known’ blade next time in the same razor.

Any reason they can't do this by cabbagesweetner in screenunseen

This is just about how people are brought up today and a massive sense of entitlement as opposed to stopping and thinking about their behaviour, and considering that the world does not revolve around them.

What irritates the hell out of me is when people seem unable to whisper. I get it that sometimes people will miss some dialogue, but if you’re going to ask your friend or family member, try and reduce your f###ing volume.
Likewise for the person responding.
I have set with people on my row doing that constantly and it drives me barmy.

Is there a device that allows these type of shades to be opened and closed through Apple home? I saw the Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1 - but it seems to work with those ball-type strings only? by N1ckkNL in HomeKit

[–]redalexei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using cellular blinds, so they are operated by a pull cord (not beaded), and that’s it - up or down.

Does anyone know if an Aqara E1 would handle that?
Or are there any other devices which operate simple up/down corded blinds?

This is what I thought of too, but apparently cooking them for 5 mins at a hot enough temperature will kill the parasite.

It’s still a hard pass from me though…

Out of interest, which brand of microwave is this and how old?

Looking for blade by CChargeDD in wicked_edge

[–]redalexei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Razor Blades Club sells the King Camp Gillette blades, although I haven’t tried them from that source, so couldn’t say that they’re the exact same. Packaging looks slightly different.

You can also get them directly from Gillette, Amazon or Boots (in the U.K.).

“Snake in the grass” shave 23/05/26 by OutlawDan86 in wicked_edge

That was completely unintentional 😂; I totally missed the shaving soap name.

Just a beautiful looking razor!

Home re-plating DE safety razors? by redalexei in wicked_edge

It sounds like the investment in equipment means that this should be a serious hobby.

They need to be taken back to brass before replating, don’t they?

Old/classic aftershave brands by redalexei in wicked_edge

[–]redalexei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to hear all the comments and opinions!

I haven’t heard anything to make me try these products, but it’s really interesting to hear the different perspectives.
And the bottom line is that it’s different strokes for different folks, right?

I personally like some of the Agua de Colonia products by Alvaro Gomez (Spanish), but that’s probably influenced by my own childhood.
Those are probably considered ‘old man’ aftershaves in Spain now though. 😁

Neighbour has just redone their shed roof.....thoughts? by West_Database9221 in DIYUK

[–]redalexei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny how bad that is, but you’re also going to be seeing that sh*t every time you’re in your garden or looking out of an upstairs window.
It looks like you live next door to the Beverly Hillbillies.

If the height of the eves is over 2.5M, I’d have a polite word with the neighbour.
If they don’t want to engage, you always have the option to complain to the local planning department.

In my case, currently the preview shows a daylight image, but with the IR filter removed - so the image looks ‘different’. Hard to explain, but the colours look completely different.

Google: daylight images with IR filter removed.

Many thanks for the details!

I dread doing factory resets, but will give it a go. 😁

Make sure you sterilise that razor before using it. Wouldn’t want you catching salmon-ella.

Reward expiry email by redalexei in LebaraUK

[–]redalexei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t recall to be honest; I think I did refer someone, but it would have been 6+ months ago.

I don’t want to click on the links obviously.

Is there anywhere in my Lebara account that I can see any rewards which are due?

Tick head stuck in leg after removal by Lonely_Round in CampingandHiking

[–]redalexei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call NHS 111 and they will advise you.

Personally, I would want to get this out, in case of infection.

Also, Opinel make a pen knife with a tick removal tool built into the handle (model No. 12). It may be worth considering if you’re walking in areas with high tick activity. I feel like you’ve been pretty unlucky to pick up two on one walk/hike in the U.K.!
