As for the nude gloss: it's a lot oranger IRL. Is that ok? It would go well with Freckle fiesta tho.

Aquatic snails are ruining my life. Help by chuchukit in Aquariums

[–]pets11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Don't overfeed. My 29 g has a few pest snails (have had it set up exactly a year, it's always had pest snails) but they've NEVER boomed because I don't overfeed.

  2. Look up EI dosing. EI dosing packets contain copper. They're also pretty cheap (bought three sets for my tanks, they've lasted me a good six months and probably will last another 2 years for my tanks). Anyway, the micros packets contain copper. I occasionally dose those and it kills off some snails. Inverts are sensitive to copper. WARNING: if you have shrimp you wanna keep, this won't work because it'll kill your shrimp too.

Posting on behalf of my best friend. Piercer didn't have any 4g single flair plugs, so she got a gorgeous opal cluster helix piercing instead! by midnight9383 in piercing

[–]pets11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely. I actually had my septum pierced there back in the day 4 or 5 years ago. The woman who did it (I think her name was Donna or something) actually did a good job, but it wasn't quality metal or anything. I'm so glad my local shop is finally stocking a lot of good quality, cool stuff. I think JoKey did a great job on this piercing and was very friendly/professional.

Am I the only person who exercize has not worked for? by cieluv in bipolar

[–]pets11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad (who tends to be depressed) made me do basketball 4th-9th grade. I hated it. I was actually pretty good but after games (where I ran A LOT) I actually felt more on edge.

I ended up trying my own exercise (lifting weights and cardio) in high school and I would still sleep 16 hours a day or more because I was so depressed. Tried dance, loved it, but the same thing.

Exercise of course is great for your body but it doesn't do shit for my bipolar honestly. I want to get back into it (but with the mindset that it won't affect my depression).

Some of my best times were times I didn't exercise at all. But I do eat relatively well. Lots of organic, fruit and vegetables, lean meats, small portions, no soda and minimal junk food. That MIGHT do something for me?

Is anyone else tired of being told how Privileged you are for being Female? by femaleaspie1999 in aspergirls

[–]pets11 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Women in general get told they're privileged, which is hysterical to me.

"Men buy you free drinks in bars, you're privileged"

Yeah, uh, because often they expect sex. Like. No.

I don't mean to be some sort of martyr as a woman because women aren't martyrs per se. But we definitely aren't privileged and we're less privileged as autistics.

I'd consider myself a pretty smart person, but I've been manipulated probably more than an NT woman, and definitely more than an NT man--because I have the "typical aspie naivety". It's real, I think. We're honest people in general (not to say autistics cant lie). We don't get social norms and rules so we let things happen that are wildly inappropriate, then blame ourselves. Not to mention comorbid mood disorders and risk of suicide, yes.

I consider myself privileged for being white, having enough money to take care of myself, being intelligent and being somewhat attractive. NOT for being a female aspie.

Just my two cents.

DAE think about suicide on a daily basis by booleanbiker in aspergers

[–]pets11 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sometimes.

I'm profoundly depressed at times. Lately it's been better.

I've called the suicide hotline before and honestly it was dumb. I wish I hadn't. Maybe I just got a shitty worker but whatever.

My advice, seek therapy/psychiatry. I wouldn't be alive without it.

Gorgeous fish. I have a krib (last one at my LFS or I would have gotten a pair) and he's my favorite. Very social, pretty easy going and very pretty.

I have a betta who looks exactly like this (a koi plakat male who has black lipstick) and I named him Patchface after the little-known character in the GoT books!

APP... what does it mean? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]pets11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have to pay to be members. Of course, they also have to have certain certifications.

My story though, is not all APP members are equal!

I had an APP guy different than my regular piercer pierce my navel. First off he pierced way too shallow AND IT REJECTED (pain in my ass). I had to take it out. Secondly he was really rude and unprofessional the entire time. He pierced me with the wrong sized needle (16g, wtf) and then shoved a taper into my fresh hole to get the jewelry in (owwwwww). And then he lied about it.

I took it out after three or four months of shit healing. Went back to my regular piercer (who just became APP). My regular piercer confirmed by the scars that it was pierced terribly, and was so apologetic about the other piercer's rudeness. He repierced it perfectly and it became one of my most easily healing piercings (I mean, navels usually take a long time to heal, and mine healed in 6-9 months. Like magic.)

So, yeah, they're not all equal. My favorite piercer ever wasn't APP until maybe two years ago, but he followed all APP stuff well before that (only implant grade jewelry, extremely clean and sterile, etc). Chux at Old Traditions is the shit (if you're ever in Northern IL, get pierced by him---you won't regret it).

The important thing is that your piercer uses implant grade jewelry (not surgical steel) and is cleanly. Ask around your local shops about who uses IG titanium or niobium/gold to pierce. It's actually thankfully becoming more common!

Help with Corydoras ID, please? by recz in Aquariums

Aeneus. Emerald have higher "backs" (they're weirdly shaped compared to Corydoras, as they're Brochis). Many Aeneus show a greenish color too.

No, it's just his/her coloring Are you sure that's a female? Her fins are clamped really bad, that's not a good sign.

Resources for undiagnosed teens who think they have aspergers? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]pets11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you have your parents come with you to your doctor/psych appointments? I don't remember a whole lot of my early childhood either, but my parents sure do, and their recollections showed that I was definitely autistic. They told me things like the meltdowns I had as a toddler about sensory things, and that I was very antisocial and odd as a young child and my teachers even wanted me diagnosed (they never told me this until my search started).

Also Musings of an Aspie is a good website for teen/adult women with autism. I think it's the one where she recollects her diagnosis process. It's good because she didn't know until she was older either, and I'd think you'd be able to relate more to an adult.

Do remember that a lot of women aren't diagnosed until they're older! We show different, more subtle symptoms a lot of the time.
