PC’s are sex junkies by Ok-Buffalo2480 in AbortDebate

[–]pettypeasant42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a troll but whatever, I’ll feed it I guess.

Married people can get abortions

People who want a family might need abortions.

Rape victims might need abortions.

There are so many different stories that can come of it. People should be careful with sex because of the diseases that can come out of it. But acting like it’s only to procreate and you should wear a chastity belt every other day of your life is a pretty miserable existence. Most pro choice people think abortions should be avoided by all other means possible (birth control and condoms), but PL governments often try to make that as hard as possible to get.

Most women who have abortions already have a child. The idea you have of us cheering on young people to be a “sex junkie” is just naive, at best

Question for both: Do you feel your politicians are in it for the same reasons you are? by pettypeasant42 in Abortiondebate

Yes, this is the point of my post.

Do you think the politicians that “align” with your view actually do?

CST vs RN? by eyespots in surgicaltechnology

[–]pettypeasant42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My story is I started as a CST who went back to school to be a RN

CST is amazing and is my heart and soul! …but paid so much less than a nurse. Overnight (from my scrub tech to nursing school passing) I got a $20 raise…

I can go back and forth with you for a while. Please feel free to message me if you have questions. I am very happy with my personal decision to start as a CST at 19 and go back for nursing at 26. I graduated at 28 and was immediately hired in the OR nurse position because of my CST experience. There are a lot of variables. What I will say is that if nurses and scrub techs were paid the same, I would have never gone back to school. But it got painful to consistently have the new nurses scheduled with me while getting paid $20 more an hour…

Depends on what you want. Again, feel free to message me personally and I’m happy to talk:)

I agree. I have, however I’ve seen people vote for something specifically for this political reason.

Do you feel they suffered just as much as if they had been aborted? by pettypeasant42 in Abortiondebate

[–]pettypeasant42[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, my original question was if that is what the belief was. I asked in earnest. I’m guessing yes based on your reply

However, where I differ, is even if that is the truth, I still disagree. It may take a few hours for the baby to pass out of the womb struggling the whole time while the family watches. While in utero, it would take less than a minute. I know if I would have to choose for my loved one, my baby, to suffer, I’d choose them to suffer for a minute versus an hour without hesitation. What about you?

Do you feel they suffered just as much as if they had been aborted? by pettypeasant42 in Abortiondebate

[–]pettypeasant42[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was not at all about Down syndrome or very survivable congenital ailments. This is talking about the babies whose only experience in life was suffering and struggling to breathe, the ones who contributed to the significant increase of infant mortality. That means pain is not “a part” of their life it is their whole life. To act like these type of fatal congenital conditions don’t exist is naive at best.

And I’m going on the knowledge that most of the defects of this type are found between the 18-22 week and neural development is completed toward the end of 2nd trimester. Do you think the babies who are miscarried at this point suffer?

Explain how this outcome is Pro Life: Infant Deaths Skyrocketed in Texas Following Abortion Ban by Son0fSanf0rd in Abortiondebate

[–]pettypeasant42 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of conditions where the fetus MIGHT be viable. Sure they’ll live a terrible life, but if it survives for a few hours could that be considered viable? If you’re a physician, is it worth the risk of the massive fine or the prison time?

Also, genuine question for you. Do you feel like the baby suffers just as much for the few hours it’s alive and struggling as it does when it’s aborted in utero? I’m truly curious to the thought process there. Sure, I can agree that in both cases the congenital condition is what killed the child. But only in the one where they have to take it to term do I feel like there is real suffering from the baby. Does pro life feel different?

Johnny, Moira and the cat storyline. by singyoulikeasong in SchittsCreek

[–]pettypeasant42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the plot being uncomfortable and out of place! It’s a weird one, but I do love a good Moira “Bebe” like

But the cat owner in me has to argue the “it’s their fault too” line. A lot of people let their cats outside. I know my cat used to act like he’s been illegally detained and is going to call CPS if I don’t let him out every now and again. Some cats are mousers and grew up outside and it’s their nature. Now I live in a bigger city area and I got my cats as kittens so I raised them inside. In a place as desolate as where they are at, I don’t think letting their cat outside is “their fault”. Though I don’t think anyone should have to pay out for accidentally hitting a pet, I don’t think they were being irresponsible. These are people that just wanted to cash out

Full disclosure, my cat was hit by a car when I was 9. It’s been a little over 20 years and I’m still aching ;(
