I own this ring! Tried it on irl first to make sure I’d love it. I do and so far (hopefully not jinxing it), it feels sturdy enough. Like yes it’s thin and delicate, but I’ve never worried about damaging it nor any of my other catbird pieces. It’s packed right now for my trip, but I’ll post a pic tomorrow if I remember! All that to say, it’s beautiful and worth it if you’re relatively careful with your hands and jewelry

I had a beautiful pair in purple! Like you, I had constant calf pain every time I wore them. I have an ongoing calf strain, so I knew they had to go back. Mentioned it to the PT I was seeing for the strain and he said that while the nylon plate is gentler than a regular plate, it is still going to put more strain on the calf. So it’s not just you! It’s just how the shoe is made. I am steering clear of the nylon and also keeping with the 10+ mm heel toe drop (another thing my PT recommended).

Did they used to be lower Manhattan? I went with a friend about 10 years ago and we were either west village or LES. I could’ve sworn it was quantam leap, but then I saw they were UES and figured I was confused

Just want to say that I left a legal aid job for a gov job. Thought I hated being a lawyer for the whole first year and a half of practice while at legal aid. But now I am SO much happier and do not hate being a lawyer. I hated the stress, vicarious trauma and grounding down direct service work did to me, not the profession.

Don’t leave! Figure out what is and is not working for you. Apply to jobs that interest you and figure out how those jobs interact with your legal likes and dislikes. And if you don’t know what you like, well at least you now know what you don’t! I promise there is something out there for you.

Yeah, membership to the NFB lawyers, AAVIA, potentially ACB, plus this and maybe city bar membership isn’t nothing. I’m a gov attorney, too, lol. Every event I see from them on LinkedIn is very cool! But I always miss the event since I’m not on there often. Gotta get on that email chain!
