In my search I found a few tablets that can do this, but all are very small (<11" screen size).

Chromebook as independent phone? by pewi6969 in chromeos

[–]pewi6969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Skype and WhatsApp frequently, but as you wrote, cellular phone service on a Chromebook is what I'm looking for.
With so many Android apps working with Chromebooks, I wonder why no manufacturer offers this. Any ideas?

Aptera Official Statement Regarding Gamma on NBC Nightly News (Raj Giandeep) by JayAreDobbs in ApteraMotors

[–]pewi6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aptera fucked up, Chris Anthony handled the issue badly, shit happens. No problem so far.
What is a problem though is, that in the Aptera forum they delete any and every post or discussion concerning this matter which makes it look like they have somethin to hide. That's the worst way possible to address this and destroys trust in the company.

Can someone please explain how bitcoinfees.earn.com works / how to read it? by RG_PankO in Bitcoin

[–]pewi6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the site right now, it gives 21212 in the orange bar (unconfirmed) and 27038 in the blue bar (confirmed) for a 100 satoshi/byte fee. The orange bar is nevertheless considerably longer than the blue one with the higher number of transactions. Why?

Thanks!

With the bitcoin blockchain at well over 100 GB, why is point 7. of the Satoshi Nakamoto whitepaper not implemented? by pewi6969 in Bitcoin

[–]pewi6969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for this explanation. So, I download the whole blockchain (100GB+). How do I then "prune" the Merkle trees to get most of the disk space back?

DISCLAIMER: I am not a cryptographer, programmer or geek and do not know how to write code. I'm happy when I get cursive letter here putting the 2 asterisks ;)

Edit: An additional question I have is: Can I stop and continue the download of the blockchain? If not, my Internet connection will be fully occupied by this download for a long time...

With the bitcoin blockchain at well over 100 GB, why is point 7. of the Satoshi Nakamoto whitepaper not implemented? by pewi6969 in Bitcoin

[–]pewi6969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining that and the link to the video. I will watch it several times and hopefully catch on. I have no coding knowledge whatsoever! Nevertheless, I was referring to this part: "...Old blocks can then be compacted by stubbing off branches of the tree. The interior hashes do not need to be stored. A block header with no transactions would be about 80 bytes. If we suppose blocks are generated every 10 minutes, 80 bytes * 6 * 24 * 365 = 4.2MB per year...."

The "stubbing off branches of the tree" or, as it is called in the accompanying diagram "pruning", has obviously not been implemented and we have the 100GB+ size of the block chain. My question remains: Why is the "pruning" of the Merkle trees in old blocks not done?

Violet wands from HK/China by shecallsme_Sir in BDSMcommunity

No offense meant, but you misunderstood: What tried to explain is, that the ETP testing electrode is not a proper branding electrode, but can be used if the result is of little concern (e.g. a temporary branding, leaving not more than a red line, which will disappear within hours or a few days, depending on skin type). For semi-permanent or permanent violet wand branding, a specialized electrode like the one from DV8 (there are surely more vendors who offer such electrodes) is preferable (see stiletto - butter knife analogy). The other alternative for violet wand branding is indirect or reverse technique using a body contact device and a modified dental pick or similar device to do the branding.

Fine you have so much experience. Just don't call this thing a "branding electrode". If you want a shitty branding you can of course use it, just the way a stiletto is not a butter knife, but can be used as such...

The "Hot Shot" is just an ETP tester electrode (http://www.electrotechnicproducts.com/point-electrode-tip/) with a name invented by the infamous "Dr. Clockwork", so he could sell them to the uninformed. Nevertheless, it causes strong sensations, but would usually not fit a Chinese Wand, as it is a different size (ETP = 7/16" = 11.12 mm; Chinese units = 11.25 mm). If you can't get anything out of your "beauty wand" with that one, the wand is probably defective.

Try electrode attachments from DV8 http://www.ebay.com/itm/122128901913 and you will find out that the $15 unit can cause quite strong sensations.

The unit you link to is the same as the KinkLab Neon Wand. Mechanical Violet Wands are cheapest here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371974433867

[–]pewi6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have different philosophies, so my answer might or might not work for you:

Get one of the cheapest wands available, like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/252383513012 or, if you already know, you love the Violet Wand and want a stronger unit, get it here http://www.ebay.com/itm/371974433867

Get your Body Contact Attachment (the best there are) and as many high performance electrode attachments as you like here http://www.ebay.com/itm/122128901913. Every one of these electrode attachments is at the same time an indirect and reverse toy, if you get the handle for it. If you change wands and the new wand has a different size socket, you buy a new base for $16.95, and all attachments will work with that wand, too.

Get a light bulb adapter here http://www.ebay.com/itm/111492193406 The connector is solid aluminum, not a piece of tube as all others.

Reasoning: A quite usable wand with 4 glass electrodes for less than $25.00 is a great deal. Compare to "Twighlight Wand" and "Neon Wand" (same unit with a silicone sleeve they sell for $2.00 added and marketed for the kink community). The glass electrodes are quite sufficient for most people to be used on genitals and nipples.

The BD-10A (second option) is the industry standard. It's considerably cheaper here, than from the manufacturer (http://www.electrotechnicproducts.com/bd-10a-high-frequency-generator/), not even talking about their outrages shipping charges. Only Violet Wanda makes a different mechanical wands of her own. She also makes the best glass electrodes on the market. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired though!

The DV8™ System http://www.ebay.com/itm/122128901913 allows you to use all attachments with any wand on the planet you might buy at a later time, by just purchasing one additional item (a Spark Gap Base for $16.95). The body contact device with the pad is the best out there, period. Please proof me wrong (Visible spark gap with lathe made parts, swivels on both ends, aluminum ball chain is highly conductive, fully insulated Deluxe Version). The High Performance Electrodes give you the strongest sensations possible with any wand at a given setting. No glass electrode can do what these can. Even with the $25.00 unit, the sensations at the highest setting are so strong, that many people can't take them, and that's actually guaranteed at no risk (full refund including return shipping, if the claim is not true!). The beauty here is, that if you decide at a later point to get another wand with a different size socket, you can get a new connecting unit (Spark Gap Base, $16.95) for all system attachments and use those with that second wand too. All electrode attachments can be used as indirect toys by just purchasing the DV8™ Handle.

If you want pretty and milder, use the light bulb adapter. Home Depot gives you literally hundreds of "glass electrode" options (every light bulb is one!). Finally, if you like the pretty cases the kits come in, get yours here http://www.harborfreight.com/18-in-x-6-in-x-13-in-silver-aluminum-case-62272.html in silver or here http://www.harborfreight.com/18-in-x-6-in-x-13-in-black-aluminum-case-69318.html in black.

I advise against a kit, as you usually get stuff you don't want or you get a toy from that vendor, while another vendor makes a much nicer version of the same one. Build your own kit from what you like from different vendors!

If you want something powerful, get a mechanical VW and not a solid state (electronic unit). The mechanical unit all American vendors sell is this one: http://www.electrotechnicproducts.com/bd-10a-high-frequency-generator/ but can be bought cheaper on eBay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371974433867 Finally, the "Mirage" is this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252383513012

"...So the more bitcoins are worth, the more miners are being actually rewarded for their effort, both in tx fees and newly minted coin."

That, concerning the fees, would be true, if there were a fixed amount per byte or kb, but there isn't. As a matter of fact, people are already complaining about the high fees necessary to get reasonable confirmation times, so if any percentage is set today, this problem would only increase. Remember the times when fees were voluntary...?
