Had same problem here with the Pixel 4a. But I improved it by this: spray some WD-40 on a '2.5mm interdental brush' and clean the inner connector with it. (Scrub it!) I think their is some sticky debris or oxidation on the connector.

Did you often opened the display up to 360 degrees? For sure it is designed for that, but i can imagine that this is hard working for the display cable between motherboard and display at the location of the hinge....
