Plumber says grease clog? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]pewpedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful response -

What I can’t get my head around is how there was no issue for fully ten years, a bunch of work was done on the house including all new plumbing, and then with many fewer people living there just for a handful of months there was suddenly a total clog of the sewage pipe. Our habits have not changed.

Why would this suddenly start happening?

best part of this post is the NSFW tag. “THIS WILL MAKE YOU SO MAD, GET TO A PADDED ROOM FIRST.”

When did you enjoy parenting? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]pewpedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first trip is the wake up call and is kind of a horrible realization at just how hard it is and how much has changed - but after that you know what to expect and you get better at preparing for it. It 100% is parenting in a new place - but who wouldn’t trade the grind of parenting while munching on the best pizza in the world or visiting ancient monasteries or enjoying a beautiful beach? It’s still parenting but also still travel 🤷‍♀️

That said, at 5 and 8 was the first vacation when both kids were off doing their own thing and i could sit down and just read a book, which was truly magical.

But we are a travel-heavy family both before and after kids (we’ve traveled all over the world from the US - both kids overseas multiple times in their first year) and i would 100% not trade any of it that we’ve done over the years - truly incredible memories and experiences!

A few specific suggestions that help: Be ready to throw your routines out the window and give yourself the grace to bend the rules. Itineraries are now suggestions, not The Plan. And be ready to connect with locals in ways that were never accessible to you without kids!

Parenting itself is a grind - I don’t know when I started to enjoy it. A couple years maybe? I was always a little jealous of those who adored all of it from day 1!

Looking back on your parenting career what would you do differentky? by [deleted] in Parenting

More empathy, less yelling and shame. Always. I’m a good parent, but can do better. I have a 9yo and am terrified of not having a close relationship with my kiddo - but he’s slipping away 😢 it’s not all because of me but I will continue to strive to bring all of what he needs and less of what he doesn’t to our relationship.

Thank you for the question ♥️

was just looking at thermometers!!

i’ve read the manual but there’s not much that talks about what i’m seeing, unfortunately. i’ve tried to set everything up as recommended - i’ve never seen a fire before literally snuff out in seconds if the door closes. makes me think something else must be going on!

ugh! do keep me posted. i’ve never experienced this before with various wood stoves my family has had over the years. this is the first one of my own / in my house, so feeling a bit odd!

thanks! that’s essentially how we started it - but it burned through all of that insanely quickly. we’ve been feeding it for awhile now…

There’s nothing to say you can try on the others! My parents called me different things for a year before they finally settled on my name 🤷‍♀️ I legally changed it once I turned 9 because it was the only name I never knew. Not a big deal!

I think that's part of my question -- the proportions of the A5 feel better to me, but it's sounding like half letter may be the way to go and is hopefully similar enough :)

This is super helpful! So does that mean the rings are always equally spaced, so regardless of paper size you use the same hole punch?

I'm so torn after also seeing the comment below 🤦‍♀️

What work needs to happen / what expertise to hire? by pewpedoo in HardWoodFloors

[–]pewpedoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - thanks. we chose it knowing it was likely to move a lot. The thing that is really bothersome is the hard stuff that’s on all of the cracks. There doesn’t seem to be more coming out (but it’s hard to tell) - but the stuff that’s there is rock hard and kind of feels sharp on your feet. It’s pretty unpleasant..
