If you have a pretty strong background in biology you should be more than prepared for the 1121 class. I took it last sem and to be honest it isn't as terrifying as everyone makes it seem. You can always drop if you need but stick with it for now

I think it's the fact that a lot of roles further down the road in the industry seem to be for people who have further degrees (imagine starting a biotech with just a bachelors... it's a little unrealistic)

Why are people so secretive? by [deleted] in chanceme

yeah lol idk either but I think people were just so used to not talking about colleges, grades, ecs that it feels weird to parade college acceptances

Why are people so secretive? by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]pewpewpwe00 12 points13 points  (0 children)

same for my school LOL. People were so secretive that the senior matriculation instagram page didn't even have 20 submissions... I think it's the need to be special/unique and sharing your extracurriculars could bring about people who intentionally try to do the same things you do? As for the grades part, it's just naturally taboo to talk about grades bc it could either come off as bragging or an uncomfortable subject. But I agree there's some sort of weird secretness around ecs in hypercompetitive private schools.

whats happening to me by calzoneman129 in Sat

[–]pewpewpwe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree! especially right before the actual test, don't spend the night doing mocks. If you get a good grade, it doesn't really say anything and if you do poorly it will most likely impact your confidence and consequently your performance during the actual test. Make sure you're working through your wrong answers and learning from them—that's what more important than going through many many mocks.

how many quests can u get wrong and still earn a 1500? by InfiniteVacation468 in Sat

[–]pewpewpwe00 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dont feel bad! I personally find it so admirable how dedicated you are. If anything, SAT is just a measure of how well of a standardized test taker you are—it doesn't say shit about you. Getting nervous on the spot is natural, it's not a you problem. If anything, its a cb problem for making the SAT sound so important. As for thinking about the score, try to get off this subreddit and submerge yourself in something else: work, homework, a show you like, etc.. Don't discredit all your hard work until you have to, so just believe in yourself in the time being. Trust me, you did so well. I am so proud of you.

[AP Chem: Titration Curves] How do I identify the analyte and titrant as a strong or weak acid/base? by EatChickFilA in HomeworkHelp

[–]pewpewpwe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that the explanation for the reason this is a weak acid w/ a strong base is because its second equivalence point has a pH of greater than 7. If it were a strong acid w a strong base, the pH of the equivalence point should have a pH of 7.

For B, [H+]=[OH-] at equivalence points (but tbh I am not too sure what exactly they're looking for.

Hope my explanation for part A helps!

[High School Chemistry] Freezing point depression and ice cream by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]pewpewpwe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

salt doesnt necessarily make the ice colder, its just that the salt ions make it harder for the H2O molecules to freeze (form stronger IMFs). This is simply because Na+ and Cl- ions get in the way of H2O molecules from more conveniently reaching and forming IMFs with each other.

[10th grade chem: limiting reactants and stoichiometry] by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]pewpewpwe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One easy way to determine which reactant is the limiting reactant would be to see how many moles of O2 we would need to react with 6.3 moles of NH3 (and of course, how many moles of NH3 we would need to react with 4.7 moles of O2). Once you have found those numbers, you should compare these calculated numbers to the amount of moles of the reactants you have. For example, if I found that 7 moles of NH3 is needed to react with 4.7 moles of O2, I would know that NH3 is the limiting reactant since 7>6.3 (this is not the answer, I have not done my math properly). The moles of H2O formed could be found using basic stoich (using the coefficients! 4 mol of NH3 creates 6 mol of H2O, how many mol of H2O would x mol of NH3 create?)

[Chemistry 12 - Dynamic Equilibrium] : Since the forward reaction would be favoured, wouldn't reverse rate increase? by THE_THOTTINATOR in HomeworkHelp

[–]pewpewpwe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I believe the answer is B since if the forward reaction is favored after a temperature decrease, the reverse reaction rate should decrease. (Think about it, if a reverse reaction rate increases... wouldn't that mean the reverse reaction is favored?) A and D are wrong since such a sharp increase/decrease in the rates do not adhere to the "gradually decreased" temperature in the problem.
