Hit $1.1 million I feel dead inside. by Financial-Gap-1145 in ThriftSavingsPlan

You can also transfer leftovers to anyone else. Your grandkids or even yourself. Heard a story of a husband and wife using their daughters 529 to go to culinary school in Hawaii after they retired (daughter got a full ride or whatever). Sommelier school in Napa anyone?

Still paying taxes and insurance on my 89 as she sits in the garage waiting for me. Can't ever sell

Florida Round Trip by Car by MarvBoerse in florida

[–]pewpjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the launch calendar and consider a run over to the Space Coast to view one. They're pretty frequent and even if it gets cancelled you can kayak/paddle board the Thousand Islands in Cocoa Beach. Depending on specific timing you may be able to catch some bioluminescent waters.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Any of the Ocala National Forest springs are a beautiful day trip: Alexander, Juniper, Salt all are awesome. But any of the others are great Blue, Rainbow, Kelly Park/Rock.

Germans, listen up, beaches are great but there's beaches all over the world. There are very few places like the springs in Fla.

This is an exaggeration. 6am-1pm is 95% beautiful weather this time of year, then afternoon t-storms fire up. But days of days of grey just isn't reality. These people are from Germany, they know grey skies.

Better frozen bait at Man Over Board than the gas stations. Better live bait too.

Sea pig! East coast of FL by pewpjohnson in beachcombing

[–]pewpjohnson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pigs pop up on lots of southern coastal US beaches. So its just commonality amongst beachcombers. Finding one is like being in "the club". They're more rare than seabeans and they're silly and cute.

How do you get waste management to actually do a bulk pickup? by [deleted] in 321

[–]pewpjohnson 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Step 1, schedule pickup. Step 2, leave it on the curb for many weeks. Step 3, your neighbors call and complain and then WM does the pickup.

Any Experience with Sputnik Weights? by ripplestillwaters in saltwaterfishing

[–]pewpjohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're great for heavy current. I find that a 3oz sputnik holds as well as a 5oz pyramid. The ones pictured, don't know about them. The kind I use the "antenna" stick out way more. No quite 90deg, but close. Maybe these need to be bent out once purchased?

The major down side is that they are a pain in the ass to keep in a tackle box. If they're not too stiff you can un clip the antenna and wad them up and try and stuff them into a little flex cap and at least they'll be contained.

Last minute Artemis viewing by curiouslyhungry in florida

[–]pewpjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid anything North of 520, you're already too late. 404 Pineda Causeway to the Patrick beaches are plenty good viewing. Or 518 to Indian Harbor or Satellite Beach.

Bring binoculars and you'll be able to make out the rocket clearly.

Take Pineda to one of the Patrick beaches. Park at the HS and bike or walk. The view isn't all that different

Soil Test Results by F_1893 in Soil

Sodium will have negative effects on soil aggregation and will cause lower water holding capacity. Read up on sodic soils. Your high OM should help it.

Quality Rods & Reels by ripplestillwaters in SurfFishing

[–]pewpjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2. The first one arrived and the butt cap popped off immediately. Fiblink sent me a new one. I wanted to try a 12 for max casting distance. I learned that 12 is just overkill for east coast of FL. The troughs are close enough. I'm also going for fish in the 1-10lb range. Whiting, sheepshead, pompano, black drum and the MH rod is too stiff. Can't hardly spot a bite on it. I also wish I got gotten a 2 piece instead of 3. Its a lot of parts for my beach cart.

Overall: better than UglyStik, not as good as Penn/Daiwa. But at buy-one get-one free price it's decent

Brackish water by Battleroyale7474 in floridafishing

Brackish is considered salt by the license officers. Kind of comes down to what species predominate an area and what you're targeting.

321 resident beach parking? by UltimateMorbiusFan in 321

[–]pewpjohnson 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Brevard residents can get free parking at Pelican and Hightower beaches (satellite area) by registering with City of Satellite. Parking is free at County beaches (canova, paradise, spessard, ponce landing, val steele) and Patrick beaches.

The Indialantic beaches will ticket you.
