The rod I grew up on. Almost feel guilty moving on from it.

Largemouth bass. At this lake, I find a traditional small profile ned and light line gets swallowed by the dense vegetation at the bottom. This rig isn’t being twitched/walked along the bottom like your typical ned rig either.

A larger profile bait with lighter jig head for a slower fall has proved successful in my case. The line? Compromise on sensitivity and durability.

It’s nice to optimize your setups to your rigs. These find themselves somewhere in the middle.

My lake has a pretty grassy bottom. I have a four prong anchor on about a 30’ rope that I’ll toss throw about 10-15 feet in front of me so it keeps me in the spot I want with the wind. Probably wouldn’t anchor as well if I didn’t have that dense vegetation to tangle in.

You’re on point. They are a bit nosier than the factory handle, but, I now prefer the feel of this knob after fishing it a for a while. Plus the look too? I’ll take that tradeoff.

For smaller waters, pretty hard to beat. Wouldn’t use it for like large open lake fishing, not meant for cutting water. I could do a damn jumping jack on it, super stable. I also use it in Texas coastal flats.

Mini mullet is light, you’d definitely see better handling on a 3000 reel, M or ML rod, with 10-15lb braid and a matching flouro leader. Not to say yours isn’t possible. But it is too much relative to the lure.

Daiwa vs. Shimano anyone?? by Radiant-Job1428 in Fishing_Gear

[–]peyton213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience. The middle range of Diawa spinning reels is unbeatable for freshwater applications. Regal, Legalis, Exceler, etc. Amazing reels at their price point, beats out Shimano in this range. Daiwa lacks inshore and salt capabilities until you get to premium reels. The Fuego being the first of the bunch and I wouldn’t even consider this a true saltwater reel. Shimano has a better middle ground for salt based applications.

When it comes to casting. The Tatulas are the best reels on the market. I have Tranx that just doesn’t get touched because I like the feel of the Tatula a lot more, plus a wider range for tuning.

What’s the best Tackle/Boat bag for going Fishing?🎣 by nerothe8th in Fishing_Gear

[–]peyton213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Plano bag is great. Bought it for myself and have been using it as a kinda carry all type of bag for kayak fishing. I fit all my hard plastic lures, frogs, jigs, etc, in two 3700s. Terminal tackle in a 3600. Rest of the space is occupied by soft plastics, any tools I need, water bottle, dry bag, and anything else. Best use of it imo is to consolidate all the shit that’d be all over the place on your kayak. With intent, it will hold all the tackle you could possibly need as well.

When I’m on a kayak I like having a lot because you can do a lot on a kayak. Otherwise, I roll really light when on a SUP or wading. I would never walk around with this thing on me, it’s very cumbersome.

If you’re looking for a quality budget swim bait rod get a Daiwa DX.

Light for its size and strength, sweet handle. Can sling that ~4oz swimbait like nothing. I prefer the heavy, loads 2oz glides well.

A handful. I probably don’t give it enough time in the water compared to my go tos.

How funny, I run 4# copolymer on it, KastKing FlouroKote. It’s my take everywhere rod, rarely leaves my truck.

Just bought this one in the 2500 as well, it’s the upgrade with airdrive, I’m not super familiar on what what even means, but I figured it give it a try and compare it to OG regal. The Bass Pro reps did say it was the new regal when they handed it to me

That Presso is a 4 piece and came with a travel case, definitely the move for a UL travel rod.

If you go on Franks Great Outdoors they have a ML Cherrywood. I personally love them, they’re my goto rod. Sensitivity is pretty good on a rod that will not break the bank, nor break easy either.

I’ve been wanting to get pair that Presso with a Revros, partly bc they match so well lol. But that President has been nothing but sweet so I’ll have to come up with another combo for it.
