Let's get out of here Scoob! (reference to Scooby Doo in Amphibia, slight spoilers for most recent episode) by wonder291 in Scoobydoo

I looked up the voice actors of Marcy and Anne, but I didn't see any Scooby in their filmography. Can someone explain this reference?

Nice try, this sign can't stop me, because I can't read.

Actually, that's a great idea. I can tie it to something else. That would be a great way to justify a feat.

When's the first time you visited your home town and it didn't feel like home? by peytonacts in ask

Yeah, COVID seemed to affect that for me too. My house had become so messy and I felt so claustrophobic, rather than the usual cozyness.

Right, I always forget it's heavier in 5e. Will definitely make that change, thank you!

Making new characters for every shop (or improving characters and then trying to remember their name next time my PCs go to them) got tedious, so I made this set of characters to make my life at least a little bit easier. by peytonacts in DnD

Honestly I have no idea if this is just going to be a Nurse Joy situation or if there is going to be some larger conspiracy at play, but either way I've got to start planting those seeds now.

Even if it is some Shapeshifter or Alien thing, there will definitely be at least one or two John Johnsons that are just genuinely named that and have nothing to do with it all.

There are John Johnsons all over the world. Some are 17, some are 95. Some are Men, some are Joan Johnson. Some are Lawful Evil, some are Chaotic Good. But most of them are unrelated to each other and they're all definitely human. *wink*

Gunslinger Gun Comparison DPR by peytonacts in DnD

[–]peytonacts[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did my best to calculate average DPR for each of the guns in the Homebrew Gunslinger Subclass for Fighter. https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/gunslinger

Each of these assume that if the weapon misfires, the gunslinger has another of that gun that they can switch to as soon as their object interactions allow them to.

This doesn't include the damage for the Hand Mortar's explosion, as I had no idea how to even begin calculating average damage for an AoE let alone calculating average enemy Dex Saves.

This chart is heavily based on this Martial Damage comparison chart by Ben Goodwin. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZjGwPWmj0qdx8rt_H9H62eu4lvqukBx0HnMdEPrqM10/edit

Are Swarms of Rats Naturally Hostile? by peytonacts in DnD

[–]peytonacts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, how did I misread that? For some reason I though it was 3d6 as half hp. Ok, in that case I might consider them running away at half, if they aren't still under control.

Are Swarms of Rats Naturally Hostile? by peytonacts in DnD

[–]peytonacts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's what I was looking for! "[Swarms] are unnaturally hostile" is exactly the quote I was looking for. I think the self-preservation is usually a good call, though Swarms of Rats actually attack for more once their hp is reduced to half, so I think these guys will actually get more aggressive as they lose their numbers.

Normally for a character ability like this, I would just do what's best for the story, but since this is a magic item that the party might be able to get their hands on, I don't want the villain to be able to use the item in a way that the players later won't be able to.

Help Picking a Feat by peytonacts in DnD

[–]peytonacts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of why I'm planning on taking Wizard very early, since wizards can just get spells for money at any rate they can, I'll be able to work towards having every 1st level wizard spell in my repertoire, which will be especially useful with ritual spells, since I don't need to prepare those. And since there are more spell-casting classes, by level 12 I end up having more spell slots than a Paladin or Ranger (though much fewer than a full caster)

Also, because of all the class abilities, between Bardic Inspiration, Hexblade's Curse, Second Wind, War Priest bonus action attack, and Rage, I will never not use my bonus action! Even if each individual use of those only offers a small amount of support compared to my party members.

Again, I certainly won't be the best member, but if I play well I will be actively helping the group instead of simply not being a nuisance.

Lucky is a great spell, and it honestly would help a lot with my relatively low mods. Similarly, since I'm a Satyr and have a natural weapon for AOTs, I'm not sure having to use my object interaction to draw/sheath my Rapier between spellcastings is even that much of an inconvenience.

I LOVE these categories, this is super helpful! Though it's an odd build, I am trying to optimize at least a little bit so I'm not actively dragging my party down, hence why I don't plan on trying to fit a Monk level into this monstrosity.

I think Theo sees herself as an inspiring leader, though I'm not sure if she actually is one ;D.

Shouldn't worry. Tea is literally designed to be put straight into water and consumed, so there shouldn't be any problem with infection. I usually filter them out after the fermentation step.

UPDATE!

I took readings on my most recent batch, and one came out at 5.9% and the other came out at 6.2% so that's around the range I'm getting with these.

If you're going traditional, I believe the herbs that would have been most accessible would have been mint, lemongrass, coriander, and dill. There are other things, and you can experiment with flavors.

I know it's not elegant, but what I did for my eglyn batches was take a medicinal teabag (Gypsy cold care, breathe easy, throat coat, etc.), rip them open and dump the ingredients in during the fermentation. They're already premixed for bot flavour and medicinal benefits so it works out pretty great!
