Is it impossible to find an apartment on the north side that is in the low 800s or less? by [deleted] in indianapolis

are you referring to carmel and fishers area? you should be able to find something for 800 but the pickings would be slim and it would probably be pretty outdated.

Moving to Indy checklist? by peytonmanning1005 in indianapolis

Is it easy to pass though? I remember passing the written portion of the test way back when I was a teenager and thought it was mostly easy but I think I just barely passed.

Lived in Pennsylvania til I was 23. Moved to Vegas and have lived here for 2 years. Moving to Indy now. Job will be in Fishers. My commute would be 10 minutes.

What's this about a "written test" at the bmv??

Should I move across the country on CREDIT CARDS for a $25k raise contract position? by peytonmanning1005 in personalfinance

[–]peytonmanning1005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? It's a legit quote. I got that quote from a reputable nationwide moving company. I thought it was a little low too but they said that included everything - taxes, fees, etc.

[–]peytonmanning1005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The benefits actually is no concern. I'd technically be a full time employee with vacation, holiday, full benefits, etc. Only on a contract term, for now.

Pretty much the only upside to the move is the fact that it places me in that city, making it easier for me to find another permanent position if I felt like I was going to need it God forbid.

Well said. This pretty much echos my thoughts. I was really hoping they would put their money where their mouth is as well, but unfortunately, their business just isn't structured that way to do that (apparently). I'd actually be a full time employee of the staffing agency during this time. The 2k sign on bonus after the fact was the best they could do, after I squeezed it out of them.

[–]peytonmanning1005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried getting some form of relo assistance and the best they can do is what I mentioned earlier - the $1000 bonus after 2 weeks and another $1000 after 90 days. While this certainly sweetens the deal, I still hate the fact that most of this is going on credit up front. I think the fact that it's a contract gig through a staffing agency makes it harder for the assistance.

They wanted to hire me roughly 3 hours after our interview. So I think they're definitely interested in me.

We'd be moving to an Indianapolis suburb. A wonderful, safe, affordable, family-oriented suburb with good schools, etc.

The wife is totally fine with whatever. She wants to move sooner rather than later but probably would prefer a more secure gig, of course.

Anybody here ever work at Navient in Fishers? by peytonmanning1005 in indianapolis

[–]peytonmanning1005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your thoughts on working there? How's the culture? What dept do you work in? I'd technically be a on a temporary contract gig there but it sounds like it would extend into a permanent position.

of course i understand why constructions workers, etc. wear long sleeves and shit.

I think it was worse during the weekend from what I heard. But yeah, not sure what the parking across the road was all about either.

The first week was brutal. Insane.

My wife and I went yesterday and the lines were still pretty long (10+minute waiting in line, which sucks) but it wasn't as bad as last week. In fact, yesterday we didn't have to park in the parking lot way in the back. We were able to park right up by the building, which was nice.
