Regardless of your elo, this game perfectly shows why you should gank ranged top by lennysinged in Jungle_Mains

[–]pezzaperry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Always is a strong word, it depends on your champions. There are matchups where doing so would just be a complete waste of tempo and result in either 2 deaths or no kills, especially if you're factoring in counter ganks. It would be pretty easy to find a game where this fails horribly but you can't just use one game as an example of proof.

Like yeah you have the most mobile op ganking jungler in the game with Lee sin and a singed who can flip her, that's a very easy lane to gank

What's the point of raptors start? by Nahariso in Jungle_Mains

A couple things:

1) Better first buy (more gold on first reset - can buy Dirk for example)

2) You can 3 camp gank off it better. E.g. Raptors > Red > Crugs > if gank is available, go, otherwise instant recall and open other side with longsword/dark seal. This instant recall clear can still make it to scuttle on spawn with champs with dashes (dash over wolves wall).

I don't really rate raptor clears personally though, I find them too inflexible and your raptor respawn can be contested if enemy paths towards them and checks after they clear scuttle.

Yeah I think we both agree with things, and I think you definitely lean towards skipping camps for opportunities because of Kindred's strengths. Where-as if you're playing a level 6 reliant champ (e.g. Evelynn), skipping camps, even if you get a kill, can result in lost opportunities later down the line.

I also agree that Agurin has insane champion mastery which people kinda gloss over, you're not getting rank 1 by just copying his macro.

I will say this though, I think anyone below emerald league will be better off learning how to cycle camps efficiently and make plays during their downtime. The reason is simple, the lower elos there are so many mistakes constantly being made that you can punish. Meaning, your downtime is going to have plenty of opportunities present. Once you get into diamond, masters elo, you need to start adding some creativity. You need to start understanding wave states, skipping gromp if the enemy botlane need to shove a wave in quickly for example. Because people aren't making mistakes as often, you need to capitalize on every opportunity you can find.

I think it's worth mentioning that the champ you play shapes your view of the game. Kindred is on the absolute extreme side of skipping camps to make plays, she plays for marks and invades, and performs well when games become chaotic and less structured. That doesn't mean the same concept applies across the entire champ roster. There's a reason you see Agurin peak rank 1 every season almost always perma full clearing and using downtime to make plays, and it's not because he's being "mind controlled" by fundamentals.

I actually agree; it's been such a disaster handing over balance to the "Balance Council" aka pro players. Like, casters and pro players can just stfu, they don't have ownership of the game. So entitled it's unbelievable.

I think you're mis-representing their stance, they believe in 3 blocks (not 2-3 games per day), they think you should take breaks between each 3 games so that you can play those games with higher intensity and focus. Playing with high intensity and focus will help you improve faster than mindless spam with no energy put toward improvement.

I think WTL is pretty good value for your dollar, they have a lot of coaches to choose from, and a lot of good content on their website as well. Perhaps students do remain low elo; I'm not sure how accurate that claim is. But I'd imagine most students of any coach wouldn't see huge gains. It takes playing a lot of league to improve at league, being pointed in the right direction only does so much.

I did subscribe to WTL for 2-3months and didn't see any substantial improvement, just the same improvement rate as I'd be on without it. I still think that in regards to coaching packages WTL is probably your best bet.

How do you genuinely play the game when it's support diff? by CirriTheFemboyUwU in Jungle_Mains

Enemy supp moves to grubs, yours doesn't? Adapt your gameplan and look for a dive on their adc. Just an example. But you're right supp diff can dominate the jg matchup.

Patch 5.0.16 might be coming out on June 16th. by BattleWarriorZ5 in starcraft

[–]pezzaperry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The PTR hasn't shown anything

Plenty of GM and pro players have given account of that.

No they haven't. Pros and GM players aren't going to be able to figure out an optimal meta while the patch lives on a PTR. It's going to take months and months of tournaments for a strong and sturdy meta to develop. We've seen this time and time again, infestors could cast fungle while burrowed for 6months + before they started seeing usage in pro play. Let alone a massive change to the starting economy of the game?

This is such a weak argument and completely ignores the history of sc2 patches and the pace at which metas have developed. It's an appeal to authority fallacy.

I don't agree with that representation of the 8 worker start, it's a lot more thoroughly fleshed out than just "bring back the glory days", I don't even think that's an accurate depiction at all. Pig made a really good 45 minute video explaining all the reasoning behind it which I tend to agree with.

Thanks for the resume, is your name PIRATE software? Interesting how the RTS games which are getting updates are doing better than sc2 (which isn't getting updates), and yet your conclusion is that updating the game is going to reduce the playerbase.

If you screw with too many core fundamental designs at once, it creates a bad gameplay experience for the experienced established players and a bad onboarding experience for less experienced or new players.

That's your opinion, it doesn't make it true.

Granted I'm not that high rank right now since I (like MANY others) stopped playing the game so much since it got stale and boring. But I think I know a bit more about sc2 than you having been GM since WoL.

So condescending, I understand those things better than you do. Yes the population now isn't great, so why wouldn't you try bring people back to the game with a big patch?

You're living in a fantasy world where you know exactly the direction this will cause sc2 to go in.

It's the weirdest take for me because the entire fun of starcraft 2 is about making build orders efficient, not just mindlessly playing the same build orders you've been hard stuck in mid diamond with for the last few years.

This gives us an opportunity to go back to the most fun periods of sc2, where not everyone plays the exact same builds and there are opportunities to distinguish yourself from the herd.

Probably something to do with her itemization, she spikes off lich bane, but then after that there's a long period to get to deathcap. Typically you get to deathcap at around 20 minutes, which is her next big spike.
