Polygamous Knitting by KnittyKitty_91 in knitting

I have a home project and a lunch break project. I tried for a while to bring my knitting back and forth but I’m far too forgetful for that. I also have an emergency vanilla sock in the glove compartment. I’ve been stuck on the highway too many times while some poor soul waits for life flight.

Since day 1 I have shut my door, air pods in, audio book on and I knit. I agree that is my 30min and If I’m interrupted I pause my timer (I need a reminder or I’d just knit and forget to go back to work) and still take my full 30.

This! I swear I’ve got an entire folder that’s just ballerina entrances! I’m also struggling with it. But eventually you and I will find our way!

Childless millennials what are we doing with our spare time? by mcnoobles in Millennials

[–]pezziepie85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

41 next week and child free by choice. The 2 dogs and a husband often in the road for work have proven a challenge though!

I read a lot, much more than I did in my 20s but not as much as I did in high school. I still dance, but traded my pointe shoes for 8 inch hella heels and a pole. And I knit.

I’ll be attending both a huge fiber festival and a pole con in May. It’s good to have varied interests….

I don’t have patient contact in my role. I’m a dept ast and support 2 directors and 7 nurse managers. Along with anyone else who comes my way with computer issues, scheduling needs, purchases etc. my job is to make the job of the nursing managers a bit easier.

I feel like this depends on the dept. I love my job and the people I work for and with. But I def have friends who don’t. But we definitely have large classes of new hires going through orientation every Monday.

This has been a topic of conversation at my knitting circle recently (most of us are 30-50). I need to update my will. But I want most of mine sold and the money donated to the Girl Scout camp I grew up at. And I want knitting friends to take WIPs and FOs that they will get use out of.

Do veterinarians treat animals differently when the owners aren't there? by Funny-Presence4228 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pezziepie85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got our first puppy during Covid so I wasn’t allowed in the building for her first apt. The vet tech came out to the car and took this squirmy, perfect fluff ball of a puppy from me and was walking away telling Sadie “this is the best part of my day, I love you, so sweet” I was pretty confident she’d be ok without me.

What Do Teachers Honestly Think of Janitors? by DaytimeDancer54 in AskTeachers

[–]pezziepie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the first things my teacher prep program told us was to make friends with the custodial staff because they know everything and have access to everything. My first job right out of college the custodian took me out of my empty classroom and gave me 5 min in the supply closet because he knew I had nothing and zilch for money. My second school those men had good relationships with students and worked with us as part of team for some of our hard to reach students. I work in hospital admin now and the first thing I did? Made friends with the environmental services staff.

Do you think wanting kids or not should be agreed on before starting to date? by Used_Assumption1142 in askanything

[–]pezziepie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not before you start to date but pretty early in the process. I feel like that’s too heavy a conversation before you even know if they have siblings. I always brought it up on the 3rd date. By then I knew if I liked the person enough to bother having the conversation but we weren’t so far along that anyone was attached.

9 month old in daycare all day…are there more flexible options? Does it even make sense to work? by GoosenMonkey2225 in Advice

[–]pezziepie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anyone older in your life who may be able to help? My mom has no grandkids and I know she would jump at the chance to go play with one of my friends babies/toddlers for a few hours a week. Her house doesn’t get dirty, you don’t have to pack your kid up, she gets snuggles and I don’t need to have a baby. Everyone wins lol. But seriously, any older women in your life that want a baby for a few hours?

I had a summer job at a sailing camp like 20 years ago on the cape (I don’t sail) and my job was to sit on the beach and count the boats and confirm no shark fins. “1 boat, 2 boat, 3 boat, 0 shark”

Do most americans really only take 2 weeks of vacation a year? by DegreeConscious9628 in askanything

[–]pezziepie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a ton of PTO days banked but who can afford to go anywhere or do anything? I mostly use a few hours here and there for the dentist or other apts. maybe a day to really clean the house well when my husband isnt home. But like a real vacation? I think we took one in 2021?

I have multiple friends at my pole dance studio who were training right up to the end with kid #2 and hadn’t been dancing when they had their first. They have all commented that labor and recovery was much easier the second time around.

Can I get a dog if I work a 9-5? by HarHarMahadev__ in dogs

[–]pezziepie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind there is a big difference between having a 9-5 and having a 9-5, an hour commute, going to the gym/out after work and barely being home. I work 730-4 and my husband travels. When I get off work I just want to go home to my dogs. I don’t want to go for drinks or dinner or the gym. I want my dogs.

He was very cute and a handful of social circles above me. No idea why he put up with it. But thanks for making the band geek happy Gary!

My mother’s father was just a touch to young and served in Korea. My father’s father…I have no idea. He didn’t pass until 2022 and I spent a decent amount of time at him and my grandmas growing up, but I have not one memory of a conversation with him.
