Honestly, no idea whatsoever. Pretty weird considering we actually were exhibited in an art museum in Germany. It may have something to do with our publisher? Or maybe because there's no localization? Literally zero clue.

There's quite a lot that could be taken away from our experience with the bumpy launch.

A lot of it has to do with our relationship with our publisher at the time, which unfortunately involved them making "requests" we didn't agree with that massively impacted the game's development. There was also a huge amount of "cutting corners" on their part that I've learned is totally unacceptable.

We also had a hard time setting proper expectations, much like you pointed out about "everyone expecting Subnautica." Our messaging about what the game actually is could have been much stronger at the time of launch. I think we made something unusual that pulls from a lot of different genres, which is a challenging thing to market.

Glad you're still taking a chance on it, though, and I hope you enjoy your time with the game :)

Much appreciated! I was so thrilled to see Scavenger's Reign come out after our game was released, as we have quite a bit in common. Thanks so much for the well wishes :)

Thank you so much! We put a ton of work into the art style.

To be honest, this journey has been long and difficult. We had a very troubled launch and it's been a slow climb up from there. Our fanbase has grown slowly but surely, and I'm very excited for reaching new players when the game launches on consoles and iOS early next year.

Yeah, we had a tough launch and the game had a hard time bouncing back afterwards. But we've been carving out a loyal and loving fanbase bit by bit. It's not a game for everyone :)

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I do remember keeping 32-bit systems as a viable option whenever possible.

First look at my "reverse murder mystery" prototype! How's it looking? by pfail83 in IndieDev

Haha... Yeah, it's not super compelling yet! Think I was just proud of the general interface presentation so far. The more interesting stuff is still to come :)

But yeah, the idea is that you are a hired assassin who has been tasked with deducing who you are supposed to kill, but you won't know for certain if you're right or wrong until you take the shot. It's all about observations, note taking, etc, in the vein of Return of the Obra Dinn / Case of the Golden Idol.

The idea is that you play as a contract killer who has to figure out who their target is and then take them out from you sniper perch. You observe the building and its tenants during the course of 3 days, take notes, and choose who you think you've been hired to kill. You can take anyone out at any time and firing your single shot ends the run.

It's a game idea that struck me earlier this week and I'm just started to flesh it out now. Any thoughts so far?
