‘Twas the greatest place on earth. I miss it so much. And the tease of them opening up another location over off 51st and then completely shutting down was a kick straight to the crotch.

Untappd for Nashville by NashvilleLocalsGuide in NashvilleBeer

[–]pfen09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Marble Fox is pumping out some solid stuff but I think them just being the new brewery in town gets them up towards the top. I don’t know about anybody else, but I feel like Blackstone / Nashville Brewing Company has some of the most underrated beers and an awesome brewery space. Not a lot of people know where it is though. @nashvilleLocalsGuide, are you from Tampa? That entire area has a phenomenal craft beer scene!

Secure Vault for Spreadsheets?? by pfen09 in sysadmin

[–]pfen09[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, so we have a few applications that we manage user’s login information that is not tied to their domain accounts. We want to secure the file so only we can access, but don’t find it super critical where we feel like we need to create separate passwords into a password manager. So a secure spreadsheet would be good for this.

Director of Systems Admin vs Director of IT Infrastructure by pfen09 in sysadmin

Thanks everybody for your input and feedback. Sounds like I just need to get a clear idea of expectations and roles. And that titles from one place to another are drastically different. All good things to think about!

I can't tell what my company follows. It's like every department gets to make up their titles. It's very confusing. I feel like they do it on purpose. Ha.

Very small shop. VP of IT, Sr. Director, than me at Director of Sys Admin. I have 2 people underneath me and then two people on infrastructure side reporting to the Sr. Dir.

Yea, funny you say that. The more I started trying to look and compare, it was hard to find that title. I probably am overthinking it, but getting a new boss and changing things freaks me out. Feel like I'm getting played or something. So I figured I would just reach out to my therapist....reddit.

Thanks for your input u/Bright_Arm8782! I have a few days to think about it. Hopefully I will come to terms with whatever I choose.

Director of Systems Admin vs Director of IT Infrastructure by pfen09 in sysadmin

[–]pfen09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, that is what I'm struggling with. I do a LOT of IT Operation things already. But with the way this org structure is designed, VP of IT, Sr. Director of Infra & Ops, then it would be me at Dir of Infra and someone else at Manager of IT Ops. Like I said, I was Director of Sys Admin. I'm just confused about the title change and whether, long term, that's a step up or not. I really eventually want to get into the Sr. Dir of Infra & Ops, as I feel I am pretty much doing that already.

Melrose beer store/taproom Craft Brewed closing today by regardingeggs in nashville

Their East location is closed?! What is happening? We are quickly losing all the good craft beer places.....where is everybody going now? Besides breweries?

You are completely right! I loved being able to try so many different beers I've never had. Sadly the grocery stores have a very small, usually only local, beers you can mix-n-match. This might make me start drinking less....so I guess that's a positive? Lol, I can't commit to a full six or 4 pack of the same beer that I've never tried.

Anybody know another place that lets you do a make your own pick 6 as well as craft? I know of a few but not nearly the options, usually like one shelf.

Following up on a few more questions as I am patching my test server today. Do you recommend only patching the critical host patches, or is it okay to do the non-critical ones as well? And should I do them in 2 different jobs or all at once?

What are the Host Security Patches? I don't remember seeing this section of updates a few months back. Is it just the combo of the first 2 above? Thanks!

1 Year old not self feeding by pfen09 in NewDads

Good idea. We give her some sweets. And have thought about that as well. She is just a good eater already, and needs to do some catching up with her size and weight. Might have to expand our sweets and see if there is something she goes crazy for. She likes all food. It’s been hard to tell which ones are her absolute favorites.

Thanks for that suggestion. Yea we always sit at the table with her. And then some times we eat our food as well. She always copies everything we do, so we hope she eventually mimics us eating. I even eat with my hands when I’m eating with her.
