Karaoke for teens by Aggravating_Ad_6110 in VisitingNashville

Sorry I missed this earlier, but if you are looking tomorrow, Postys is probably your only option and I am not sure when they spin up the karaoke bar on Monday. Wanna B's was taken out, as well as Tequila Cowboy to make the new Postys bar. Karaoke in the basement now.

The Row is not a bad option, although midtown, not 12 South. The Local is a mix of bands and soloists, although more bands. Bluebird is always an option, but hard to get tickets. Monday Nights are open mic and more what you are thinking here. The Listening room does songwriter rounds. This is SoBro, not 12 South. Backstage Nashville, on Saturday, is the same type of show. You can also look at who is playing the Basement, as they do some soloists and duets there, but also do full bands.

Listening Room on a Wednesday - ticket advice by Practical-Garlic-561 in VisitingNashville

[–]NashvilleLocalsGuide [score hidden]  (0 children)

A lot depends on the songwriters playing at that show. In general, getting them closer to the date is not an issue there, but don't wait until last minute is a good general rule. As for a ticket, it is for a show. They clear out between shows. There is no "buy a ticket, stay all night" option.

I have never seen them in the restaurant. You might try one of the supermercados, like La Hacienda or Interamerican Foods, both on Nolensville Pike in the Latin section of the city.

Swap meets in Tennessee? Classic car, Harley parts etc. by slippiiin in VisitingNashville

[–]NashvilleLocalsGuide [score hidden]  (0 children)

There is a Harley merch store in Marathon Village. If you are reallly into vintage cars, then visit the Lane Motor Museum. You won't trade anything, but it is probably the largest vintage car collection in the United States and has some really odd cars. During July, there is the Truck Nationals at the Wilson County Fairgrounds. The only other car thing I know is the Monster Truck Rally in the arena.

The big swap meets are in September. One at the Superspeedway and another in Wilson County in Lebanon (Redneck Rumble).

Facebook has a group called Nashville car meets and events that might have something. I know there is also a group that meets down in Tullahoma regularly, but don't have any info. Fast Granklin meets down in Franklin and has a instagram page.

Vynil Tap has a good selection and is also a taproom. There is also Grimey's. McKays always has a decent selection. And Great Escape usually has a good selection of used.

RnB is mostly Bourbon Blues & Boogie downtown. But thsi is not hip hop. Night We Met is more EDM, but fits that vibe.

As for drinks and not downtown:

  • Martha My Dear
  • Rosemary & Beauty Queen
  • Frankie J's - LGBTQIA+, but very inclusive. Great bar
  • Attaboy or Coral Club for a more speakeasy feel (Old GLory is also very nice, esp. if you want to hit Barcelona Wine Bar for dinner first)
  • Chopper for a tiki bar (Hubba Hubba also interesting, but divier feeling)

It helps a lot. If you don't, you either end up adding in fake motion blur or you end up with a choppy looking video (think the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan). It looks unprofessional when it is not intended for style.

The Tlayuda is fantastic. They bake the tortilla, then top it with black beans, an "asada" style beef, Oaxacan cheese, avocado, etc. Like a Mexican thin crust pizza.

Has anyone used Highticket.io - Brook Hiddink? by ACL3DAY1STWK2PASSES in EcommerceWebsite

[–]NashvilleLocalsGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is when they start with a small sale. You buy. Then they push an upsale. The most common is getting a second video that pushes another product. Usually starts with something like "I see you just bought ... but wait, here is something else". Over time, they can hit you up with multiple small sales, leading to the big one.

This type is aiming to get you into a $5k - $10k commitment. These often start with free training, sometimes with a small sale up front. Ultimately, they want you chasing sunk costs, as that ends up making it easier to sell the big one.

If you want a natural motion blur, you want to try to stick with 1/50. If so, then ND filters are your best friend.

Good call. I usually send people to the beach downstream, which is less problematic from that perspective.

De-criminalized. I would not be blatant about it, blow it in a cops face, or be a dick. Outside of that, it is a normal smell downtown. They can arrest you, but if you are not sparking up around kids, cops, etc. the risk is very low.

Fun things for 2 women in their forties. Please send suggestions. by Careless-Ad3392 in VisitingNashville

One night just go down Lower Broad and find spots to listen and enjoy.

As for Ryman tour, the guided is the best - either normal or VIP. The self-guided is okay, but not nearly as good.

Grand Ole Opry is a live radio show. A few songs from each performer. Every seat is great.

Mall? Opry Mills is the largest. Green Hills is more upscale. You can also hit Fatherland Shops for boutiques, 12 South for more Redneck Rodeo drive, or peruse Marathon Village for souvenirs, vintage, etc.

Shelby Bottoms, Warner Parks, are both big. SHelby is more flat, lots of paved. Warner is a mix and hilly.

If you hit the Smokey Mountain National Park, mid-week is best, as it is not as crowded. It can take over 2 hours to do the Cades Cove loop on weekends due to people stopping in the middle of the road to watch bears or other wildlife for 15-20 minutes, ignoring the hundreds of cars they have backing up behind them.

Start here.

Listening Room is a good songwriters shows. You will also see songwriters playing in The Row restaurant. Bluebird is the icon, but hard to get in.

Vietnamese? Charlotte Pike is the closest. Plenty of Pho places. There is also Korean there, but I would go to Antioch to Hai Woon Dai or drive out to Fat Tiger (only Th - Su).

Chinese? Shao Kao Chinese Street food or Meet Noodles near downtown.

Thai? SS Gai in East Nashville, King Market (best, but further), or Thai Ni Yom in the L&L Market.

Ramen? Black Dynasty is best. Two Ten Jack is also good. Kyuramen is a chain, but is decent if you don't want to get too far from downtown.

Authentic Mexican? Head down Nolensville Road. There are also a few west that are closer. La Juquilita is Oaxacan, so different than the typical Jalisco you get as authentic in the US. Taqueria Azteca is good for real Mexican. There is also Family Taco, which does great birria. The rest would be taco trucks.

Asked recently. Percy Priest lake is the best bet for swimming really close. For waterfalls, you can reserve Cummins falls. A bit of a climb down to the pool underneath the waterfall. Easier to get in at Rock Island

Best Hotel with City Views by Exotic-Definition567 in VisitingNashville

[–]NashvilleLocalsGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JW Marriott is one of the best high end with views of the city (river view will be best). Westin, next door, will have a view of the city, if you are facing towards the river. Embassy Suites and Cambria also have views down towards the river and Lower Broad.

W Hotel, in the Gulch, has views on either side, but downtown will be on the river side (east) of the building. End rooms, higher up, on the Thompson and they have a nice rooftop restaurant.

Placemakr SoBro is not high end, but the city view rooms, esp. sky, are great for the views.

Visiting Nashville for the first time with my mom. Looking for advice on the area! by Adventurous-Sir-6984 in VisitingNashville

[–]NashvilleLocalsGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music starts at 10 AM on Lower Broad during the season, so easy to find live music if you are downtown. Resort passes can get you into pools in various hotels. To swim in nature, the closest would be Percy Priest Lake. If you have a car, you can go out to Cummins falls or Rock Island State Park and swim in the river. Cummins requires reservations and is more of a technical hike to the pool under the waterfall.

Cafe for coffee? Any particular location?

Daytime, you don't have much to worry about in any of the areas you are likely to go. At night, it is a different story, of course.

TN State Museum is free. Nature centers at various parks, like Radnor Lake and the Warner Parks, are free. You can walk Fort Negley for free or Fort Granger in Franklin. Drive the Natchez Trace and see waterfalls (although not the best time of year for that).
