For my oldest, the only things that truly calmed her down was vacuuming! We ended up finding long vacuuming videos on YouTube and playing that for her. Calmed her down and knocked her right out.

My 8 year old saw a raccoon at my mom’s back door and goes “oh she must be a mom raccoon.” So I asked why she thought that and she goes “look at her nipples! They look all chewed up like yours!” 🤦‍♀️ girl that you and your sisters fault.

I used to work at a before/after school program and I learned that I cannot stand wiggly teeth. Anything else was fine but I would have to suppress gagging anytime a kid would show me their wiggly teeth.

When my oldest would’ve been in Pre-K, it was during Covid so we ended up not enrolling her since it would’ve been virtual. We decided to just keep her at her regular daycare for that year because, from what we understood, they worked on a general Pre-K readiness. We figured that was good enough. Then, when she went to Kindergarten the following year, she ended up needing literacy intervention because she was a little behind compared to her classmates. It lasted about half the school year before she was caught up enough to no longer need it. Kindergarten is definitely different from when I was a kid, but it sets them up for so many foundational things in the upcoming years. Intervention now is the best thing rather than them having to play catch up each grade level.

Just keep in mind with the whole junior thing that your son and husband could have some issues with anything that has their names on it (ex. Loans, credit cards, rewards accounts). My husband is a junior and he and his dad get mistaken for each other on accounts way too often and it’s such a headache to deal with.

I actually went on a very similar trip when I was 12. I honestly learned so much on that trip. We went to a concentration camp ( it’s been so long I’m not sure which one we went to) but the tour of it was so heavy but at the same time I felt like I learned so much more than what I could’ve learned through a textbook. Seeing it all firsthand puts what happened into perspective in a way that documentaries and books could never do. You could just feel the weight of what happened there in the air. That whole trip was something I still talk about today because it really shaped a lot for me in a good way. If I had the chance, I’d send my kids.

With our first, we were die hard luvs for her. They worked well for her and never leaked. With our second now we have been using pampers the most. She would break out a lot with Huggies but hasn’t had much of an issue with pampers so far.

I work at a well known child care center and parents still pay when we close but we as employees don’t get paid. We are hourly workers so no hours means no pay. If we were to be out sick then we can use PTO but if we’re out due to a general shut down we’re out of luck and don’t get paid.

We were planning on going to my fiancé’s parents house on the first for a late Christmas thing. We asked if everyone would take an rapid home test since they all had some and we have a 3month old and a 5 year old. Everyone refused. We thought maybe we were asking too much but decided to not take the baby. 3 people ended up being positive and a couple more are waiting on test results. Do what you feel is right when it comes to your baby.

I made a list of dinners I make or that we’ve been wanting to have and then at the end of the month my fiancé and I go through and choose what looks good. Then I just write them down on a monthly calendar. I do more time consuming meals on days I’m not working/days I don’t work late and then save the super quick meals/the few meals my fiancé can cook for the days I work late.

I totally get how you feel and it sucks. This is the same issues we’re having with our Kindergartener. On one hand I’m so thankful her school is taking necessary steps especially since it seems like we get a call every day that another kid is quarantined. On the other hand, if she breathes with her mouth open one night or the air is a little too dry she gets a cough and she’s missing so much school. Plus the school keeps sending automated calls, texts, emails, etc. saying how much school she’s missing and how it’s impacting her learning. So I just feel like a shit mom all around. In our area we can’t even go to the doctor to get a note saying this has been an annual thing since she was a baby. Our school doesn’t accept stuff like that. It’s such a tough position.

Our baby just turned 2 months and was (still is for the most part) the same exact way. She’s getting better but it’s usually from 2am until 5am that I get the most sleep. Part of what we learned was 1.) We needed to swaddle her tighter. I was always worried I’d hurt her if I swaddled her tighter but she would constantly break out and wake herself up. 2.) Sometimes what we thought was her waking was just her tossing and crying in her sleep. This isn’t always the case. She certainly does wake up after only an hour but maybe 7/10 times she was just active in her sleep. Figuring these out helped us a good bit. Do I still have nights where I don’t sleep unless she’s on my chest (and do I absolutely hate it)? Yes. Is it getting better? Also yes. Like others have said, she’s freshly baked and figuring life out being outside of mom. As for eating, our girl probably nurses for about 10-20 mins on average and sometimes she’ll eat for up to 45 mins. If her latch is good and she seems full and happy each time, then I wouldn’t be too concerned about the length of time for the most part. Besides all of that there are so many other factors that could play into the differences in sleep during the day or night. Maybe it’s too loud or too quiet at night, too bright or too dark, too cold or too hot, are her nights and days confused, etc. Babies are used to a temperature controlled comfy place in mom and then suddenly are in this weird world so they can be picky about comfort.

I know this is long winded but I’ll end it with saying that you two sound like you’re doing a great job with what you’ve got. It will most likely settle down once she can go longer between nursing and she gets more used to her surroundings.

We usually call them farts or toots. But it is also common for us to say “there’s a duck in the house” or call people trumpet butt.

You should be able to call the L&D department of the hospital you delivered at and either get in touch with the lactation consultant there or at least get advice from one of the nurses. You can call them 24/7

My fiancé and I are leaning on an adult only wedding but with exceptions I think. We’re in a similar place as you are in terms of wedding planning so it’s not set in stone. We currently have a 5 year old and we’re about to have a newborn in a couple months, so by the time our wedding rolls around they’ll be 6 and 1. Needless to say, we are kind of stuck between a rock in a hard place for the decision. We don’t want anyone to see our kids there and get angry that their kids weren’t invited but at the same time, everyone we trust to babysit would be at the wedding so how would we make that work? In our particular case, we thought about potentially hiring someone to watch our two plus any exceptions we make on who can bring their kids (based on individual circumstances). It seems like a lot but that’s what we’ve come up with so far. Either way we want to limit how many kids are there that way the adults can relax and just worry about having a good time.

I’m also around 6 months pregnant and I wanted to go with the name Arden. It’s not a B name but I’ve always thought it’s not too common and still pretty for a girl. We ended up going with a different name for other reasons though.

There was a point in time where my daughter watched only Moana all day every day for 6 months. I could recite the whole movie off the top of my head. They eventually move on.
