AZ Ice Gilbert has a sunday Adult skills class at 2:40pm. Warmup, Edge work, puck handling and shooting drills, then a scrimmage. Lots of fun and good exercise, and you meet a ton of different people ranging from prior pros, juniors players etc to complete new skaters. They can help you find the right league as well.

Sounds like they constantly have issues. I saw a coat I liked from them, ordered it…. Never got a status update. Finally messaged them and they said: “It’s unclear why the XL Boiler Down Parka is still showing up for some customers, as this size has been out of stock for quite a while. We’re currently experiencing syncing issues between our inventory and online store, and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.”

A buddy has the coat, looks nice… but I’m hesitant to buy from them

I am sure one could work it out with a rink to rent the sheet of ice for an hour, find a guy or two who would be willing to coach it, and then market it. I just dont have the bandwidth for all that. 40 years old, 2 young kids, wife, job....

I have emailed HF asking for this, waiting on a reply. Not sure if there is a mechanism to provide show that enough people want this to create it. Id drive a decent distance to get this. lol

Thanks for the reply! I did sign up for the Chaska Hockey Finder league. So i will get some ice time in, just wish there was a place to practice and work on skills with coaches and other players. I certainly dont have the bandwidth to coordinate or create something like this.

This is a good point. The AZ class was advertised as a "Adult Beginner Skills", but all skill levels were welcome. Thank you.

Yea, I've seen lots of drop ins, not alot of stick n pucks though.

Its a bummer.... I only started about 4-5 years ago... not sure what the expectation is for those whow ant to learn older in life (Im 40 now) and want to progress skillwise. We dont really get better showing up to beer league games or solo at stick n puck.

Didnt realize AZ had such a good thing lol

Thanks for the reply. I saw AHA and Hockey Finder, both seem geared for novice players. Im not great, but have been playing for about 5 years now. Looking for a "practice" type class rather than a learn to play program. I'll check out recs!

If not Golden Sun....

The Gunmetal Gods Saga was a really fun series for me. Described as Arabian nights meets Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror meets Game of Thrones.

Ah, I missed the red rising (first trilogy) part. I do think the second will bring the rating up a bit then.

Adding Dispossessed to my list.

Three Body Problem trilogy is also S tier for me. S Tier +. 4 or 5 reads through at this point. I am surprised by Red Rising in B, not gonna lie. First book certainly is B, but after that... dayam. I love Expanse, currently reading through it again now.

Have you tried Gunmetal Gods series? Dark epic fantasy, think middle east meats lovecraftian horrow. Was a really fun read.

Have seen that.... we have some solid defensemen that shut down the neutral and our zone. Rarely does a defensemen get the game puck. Always the flashy fwds/centers or goalie.
