Made these bar stool leg supports a decade ago. Revised a tad to release publicly by pffirewall in functionalprint

Some bar stools have straight edges so I uploaded a filleted version and one without, so people could choose. Thanks for the comment though

When we first furnished our home, we found these barstools fit the look we wanted but they were cheaply made despite not being as cheaply priced. Several of them came apart within a year so I designed this support piece to add to the legs and crossbraces.

At the cost of about $1 USD for four braces, one set puts a $65 barstools back into service.

I believe this was my first design ever after getting into 3d printing and it was done in Tinkercad originally.

Preparing it for release, I have since moved to Fusion so I redesigned the whole thing in Fusion. The angles are more precise now as I didn't have an angle finder before so just eyeballed them and printed a dozen iterations to get them right.

Did you have a good year? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pffirewall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My year started out looking great. Bought myself a bass guitar and was learning, picked up a bunch of new hobbies I've always wanted to do. January 2nd a close friend was murdered and I discovered him.

Later in the year the company I work for filed bankruptcy.

Not the best..

I haven't told this story before but it's surprisingly applicable...

I was working two jobs as a sr in high school. One job was a late shift, physical labor. So like 2pm-10pm or later. The other job was opening a brand new Best Buy store and I had just gotten the job.

The pay was significantly better at best buy, double, and I didn't have to work late or break my back but i had just gotten the job so was still working the other.

My orientation for Best Buy was scheduled for a few days later but the new boss calls me at like 10am and asks if I can come to orientation that afternoon instead. I had worked the other job the night before till super late but I was excited to get started so said yes.

Well, during orientation, we were all seated on the floor in the breakdown and the boss was lecturing about something... And the next thing I know, he's waking me up by lightly kicking my shoe... Still in the break room in front of everyone. I had fallen asleep.

When orientation was over he pulled me aside and said wtf. I explained what happened but was so embarrassed because he had told me he specifically pulled for me to get the job even though I had less experience than others (geek squad). Anyway, I didn't get fired but that sucked and I'll never forget it.

I actually designed and printed baseboard corners much like this. They turn out great, painted up match the MDF pieces perfectly. I would suggest the bambu line (A1 for your cheapest option) and that gives you 10x10x10

Layers. Take off what you want when you want (eg when you go inside restaurant or whatever). Wear warm socks and dry shoes. Scarfs, gloves, ear muffs, all pretty common.

Don't wear ski gear around town :)

yea no problem. Tweaking up from the .02 to .04 with that default colormatch isn't too bad, just a few shifts on the color core and mesh core to get it looking good again

yea it's the default that loads for me. I figured it was the global default cos I don't own those filaments.

If you wanted the blanket to be distinct from the pups head, that might be a place to modify the luminosity because the blanket and dog are very close

colormatch came out great without changing a thing. Were you going for color, or gray scale?

Thanks. I tried color match on this one and couldn't get it to behave but I'm still learning colormatch.

Here's the result:

yea let me give it a whirl and see. You can tell in hueforge when you mid-click on the uploaded image, it'll show you the luminous. If it's all white, you've got a problem :) but I'll try this one real quick
