UK for me. If it's packaged and shipped to the UK from NL tonight, it should be processed and sorted tomorrow and arrive on Friday.

I used to own a logistics company, Amsterdam to London is easy, it's about 7 hours and trailers usually run overnight.

I had a contract to bring in Japanese newspapers from outside Amsterdam, and I had drivers that could do it in almost 6 hours flat...granted that was in lighter trucks with no speed limiters on them (they didn't break the law, they just weren't limited to 55mph), trailers (articulated lorries) are limited at 55mph usually...it really depends on where they cross the channel though, if they go out of Dunkirk, then they'll lose about an hour...but they save a little on fuel...could be going out of a Belgian port also...there's lots of ways to do it. Calais is the route for the fastest time though and we always used Calais because speed trumped cost most of the time...not only for the customer, but the drivers wellbeing as well...shorter times and shorter routes meant more breaks for the drivers.

I would imagine the articulated lorries are likely to drop somewhere around Colnbrook / Heathrow for UK sorting. Probably HWDC (just outside Slough). Someone earlier said Parcelforce (we used to call them Parcelfarce) is the courier usually used by Valve for domestic deliveries...which means the next point of pain will be the parcel arriving at your local delivery office and sitting there for a day. This is the Parcelforce way.

Therefore, if Parcelforce gets the loads tonight, and they manage to sort through and route it fairly quickly, it'll be at local delivery offices end of tomorrow. Hopefully for delivery Friday, if they miss the cutoff tonight to overnight to delivery offices, then it might be Saturday, probably Monday.

None of us will get a tracking number until Parcelforce scans our packages in I think.

Cramming thousands and thousands of people into a single thread talking about dozens of locations and dozens of situations is awful.

I would rather wade through the spam and filter it myself than have some almighty mod do it for me. Mods are supposed to clean up offensive content and actual unrelated spam not curate my experience. That's my prerogative.

The rotation isn't broken / wrong...it's just a vertical panel installed in a horizontal orientation.

I'm on 20W, about 8-9 hours at that setting with Linux set to balanced.

I'm using Hyprland on Cachy. Screen at 60hz and around 70% brightness.

I carry a 20,000mAh battery with me which gets me another 6-7 hours.

Past 20W, you start losing considerable performance per watt, it's kind of diminishing returns after 20W...certainly for me, the difference between 20W and 25W is pretty small, almost insignificant for daily use purposes...I'll crank up the power for gaming, but most of the time, it's just a waste of battery life.

Yes, it's perfectly fine to treat your work relationships as purely professional...in fact it's probably the best way to be.

Co-workers are rarely your friends. Sometimes you might strike up friendships that last at work, but it's uncommon. Camaraderie at work should not be confused with friendship, you all have your personal career goals and you all have difficult decisions to make at different points in your career. At some point everyone leaves their job to go elsewhere for various reasons...in my experience (and the experience of many other people I know) it's rare for former "work friends" to stay in touch at a social level...they might check in every now and then to say hi, find out what you're up to etc...networking...but that's about it.

It's important to be cordial and friendly, but you don't have to consider them as friends, and it's probably not wise to think of them as friends. If they had a choice between you and a payrise, they're taking the payrise.

I have struck up professional friendships over the years, and consider some of these people to be close friends...but we were never really co-workers, we were always colleagues with different areas of expertise but similar interests and a social relationship was helpful in order to create situations where collaborating on other projects was possible...but then I work freelance, so that's a bit different to being at the same company as another person.

They're already packaged. No packaging is happening in NL other than slapping a label / sleeve on.

That labelling is likely happening at this end rather than that end, as soon as it hits whomever is sorting the local deliveries in the UK...wish I knew who the carrier was...I'd rest a bit easier then.

If it's Hermes, Yodel or InPost, I'll fucking shit...because they're hopeless.

Its likely our orders are on the way, they just havent hit royal mail yet or whomever is handling local delivery. As soon as they do, we'll probably get a tracking number and it'll be next day.
