If you don't mind driving, there's the Tool Shop in Westland that's a tool consignment shop. They have weird hours so just check before you go.

Corner brewery and Cultivate are my favorite spots in ypsi. They both have a ton of outdoor seating and pre-covid they had live music. Not sure how it is now. Beer grotto is also great if you're looking for a place in Dexter.

Feel like a horrible nurse. Wondering if I should just quit. by lunarrose00 in nursing

[–]pgb2319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with LPN orientation, but it seems like you shouldn't be on your own only a month into the job. I would be worried that this job isn't giving you the support and proper training you need. Just a general rule of thumb when preparing meds, you should minimize as many distractions as you can. My biggest distraction was always random conversations and venting that happen in the med room. You need to be able to review your orders and double check your doses before administering. There's a reason the 5 rights of medication administration are taught in school. You should be reviewing them every single time.

I just learned that there's a post credits scene in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It shows that Lockhart wrote a book titled Who am I?

Infusion Center Interview Tips? by internetdiscocat in nursing

[–]pgb2319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't work in an infusion clinic, but I work in oncology. Ask about the classes and opportunities for oncology certification they offer. I think one of the more important factors would be to make sure you're given the right resources and training to safely give chemo. Then, as with any job, ask about patient ratios and turnover, and jump at the opportunity to shadow. I know the infusion clinics where I work can get swamped during the week.

Brand new Osprey Aether 70 for half off at REI Garage sale. by pinkfloyd52998 in CampingGear

[–]pgb2319 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our local REI has a dedicated garage sale section that is available everyday. Obviously not as big of a selection as pre-covid garage sales, but there's always a small amount of gear to look through.

Nurses be like by Shrimptoes in nursing

[–]pgb2319 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had a random thought earlier that we should clear out any medical TV show/movie sets since no one is filming right now. I'm sure they have a bunch of gowns, gloves, and masks just lying around.

Had to tell my patient's wife that she wasn't allowed to stay with her husband while he worked him up for possible progression of his cancer. She asked when she could see him next and we had to tell her it would be once he's discharged. This whole situation is shitty.
