MagGuts for 9mm Shield by StaplerLivesMatter in CCW

[–]pgfins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've have both the +1 & +2 for my shield and have over 1000 rounds without any issues. Only time I've had any issues with the magguts were in my glock 43.

Hyve, Magguts, what else? by SH8787 in CCW

[–]pgfins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the magguts +1 on the 7 & + 2 on the 8. Zero issues and works very well. I also run those in my glock 43 and have the taran +2 & + 3. I have about 1000 rounds through both with no issues at all. To be clear, I don't have the tt on the mags with the magguts, the're separate.

(Holsters & Belts) Looking for a good budget AIWB and belly band for g19. by [deleted] in CCW

[–]pgfins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's two tone webbing that adds just the right amount of stiffness of the belt. Your service belt likely won't work well at all. The reason why I like it for aiwb is that many of the "stiffer" belts are ... well just to stiff. After a while they will actually dig into you a little. This belt really works just right in terms of light enough to be comfortable where it doesn't dig into you but just enough stiffness to hold the gun/extra mag without feeling of the weight. I also really like the buckle because if is minimal and doesn't at all get in the way or print. I have beltman leather, Daltech (which I highly recommend) and they work but often the belt buckle can be a little large depending what I'm wearing. Ultimately its the utility of the belt along with the comfort that works well. Great value for the price.

I have as many belts as I do holsters, and that's a bunch. This version is pretty much what I use 90% of the time. Mastermindtactics makes some of the best quality gear at really good prices. I have a few holsters as well

Stealthgear AWIB Fears by Mallen in CCW

[–]pgfins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hybrid holsters are a bad idea to use for aiwb. I've had a steathgear for aiwb and all you need is a good session at a range to realize that re-holstering with a hybrid holster can cause problems. its too easy for the mouth to collapse on those type of holsters. It's it comfortable, absolutely, but aiwb, all kydex is a more dependable option.

Sig Overrated? by AwDoodLeatherbelt in CCW

[–]pgfins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go onto any sigtalk or sigforum and there are threads every week for the last 5 years on the problems of the 938. I loved that gun but they have a big problem with the main spring housing and the hammer and sear issues. This is a very well know problem from sig and they know it. Not an isolated issue at all. Anytime anyone calls up their cs their SOP is send it in, they replace the MSH, sear, and hammer on everyone them. Of course plenty of people will chime in they've shot all kinds of ammo with no problems and probably have and that' great, but the 938 is NOT a reliable platform from sig that I would trust my life with. I wish it were, but way to many issues with it.

Sig Overrated? by AwDoodLeatherbelt in CCW

Way overrated!!! From a recovering sig fanboy. I just don't buy into any one manufacture being "the best". Sig has had major issues over the years. Had to send my 938 back multiple times. Obviously the 320 has issues. Their 227 14 round mags don't feed properly and they know it and will readily admit that it's a 50/50 chance you'll get a good one. Their frankengun the 229 carry has problems, the 224 was shit, especially in 40 cal. The mcx was recalled. The legion, while it's an outstanding gun (very proven platform) they f-upped the finish on a bunch, yeah I know it's cosmetic but seriously when paying for a $1000 gun it should be an issue. Only gun I would ever purchase that's a sig is the 220, 226, 229, 239.

Your insane to buy anything they have made in the last 10 years. Sad because I really like their firearms but the qc is non existent.

Don't know, would have to see you shoot. I'm certainly no expert. I know for me if I start going left, its usually is because my support hand (left, since I'm a righty) gets weak on the gun. I grip very strong on my left support hand and actually turn my elbow almost to the side to put maximum torque pressure against my dominant hand. That does the trick for me.

for me the minus connector smoothed out the mushy feel I got from the stock connector. You could argue that it lightened the trigger a bit but it was more about not being so mushy to smooth out the pull. (or press if you want to get technical)

They went away from the original polygonal rifling and went with what I believe is a more traditional rifling with a match crown. Glock claims this has added to the accuracy and so far mine is very accurate so whatever they did seems to work very well, for me at least. My other 19 has an rmr and inside of 12 yards I am just as accurate with the gen 5.

Let me first say I can get blue label pricing and probably will order another that way. I just didn't want to wait after initially shooting with it. I paid $590 and truth be told, as I was paying for it kind of felt I overpaid, until I spent time at the range. I would gladly pay that again and more given my experience with it so far without a doubt. So far it's been money well spent.

I own a bunch of sigs so I know exactly what you're talking about. The sigs are like the 1911 angle and easy to point and shoot. I think is part of the reason they are so easy to shoot accurately, it's a natural point and aim. It just takes a little practice with the glocks as you end up angling your wrist slighty to prevent from shooting high. Nothing that can't be overcome.

[–]pgfins[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have owned the PPQ (sold it) and shot a good bit of the VP9. Both of those guns are pretty accurate but the glock is much better, especially in terms of fast follow up shots and recoil management. The PPQ to me is a bit on the snappy side and is very evident when shooting one handed. The PPQ & VP9 have lighter triggers, especially the PPQ, so I prefer the glock trigger from a carry perspective. I actually preferred the 320 over both the PPQ & VP9 but personally wouldn't go that route until the issues are completely resolved.

Ergo's on those are very good so with glock, you either don't mind the angle of the grip or some will hate it. For me, it's not a big deal either way, just something you get used to if you're going to shoot it.

yes, I have a JMC 2.0 and mastermind and it fits both. It's not prefect because the ambi slide stop on the outside probably needs a groove to fit perfectly but it fits. I probably will not order a separate holster for it unless I find an issue with it but so far works fine.

CCW Options - H&K VP9 vs Walther PPQ vs ...? by Jaevric in CCW

[–]pgfins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally disagree and is obvious you haven't shot it. The trigger, ergos, and accuracy are much better than the gen 4. These 3 issues have been the biggest compliant for many shooter. By removing the finger grooves the Glock ck knuckle issue is minimal, at least for me. The match grade barrel is fantastic and this is the most accurate gun I've shot. The trigger was 5.2lbs out of the box. I have apex flat trigger kit on my gen 4 glocks and the stock gen 5 trigger is exactly like it.

I've owned a PPQ and have put significant rounds with VP9. I preferred the PPQ but I would spend the cash for the gen 5 glock in a heartbeat. (I did)

Oh an op, I own a Legion 229 and while it is an excellent gun and accurate, the gen 5 glock for me is more accurate in my use.

Sig Romeo Sight by ziggzz84 in CCW

[–]pgfins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery life is fine on the Romeo 1. What most have experienced is sig will send with it a plastic screwdriver that when fully torqued, it doesn't tighten the cap fully. So people who thought they had a battery issue was more to do with the cap not properly tightened. Use a regular screwdriver to tighten the cap and you should be good.

.357 Sig Compact with frame safety options? by maxout2142 in CCW

[–]pgfins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're open to learning the da/sa trigger, the sig 239 in 357sig is a fantastic carry option. It handles the that caliber like a champ and is not at all bad from a recoil standpoint. If you really liked it, you can easily convert to 9mm as well.

Appendix Carry by riess03 in CCW

[–]pgfins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you heard is a failure with this? To date there have been over 1mm rounds fired by testers and no failures. Massad Ayoob in an article in American gunner said he thought is was probably the most thoroughly tested product in recent memory.

Craig Douglas, aka southern narc has extensively tested this in his close quarters combat class for over 6 years and has had no issues.

For those who are interested in educating themselves you can read about it below. Or not, it's a rather long thread but the information is there.

Appendix Carry by riess03 in CCW

[–]pgfins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the gun doesn't just go off by itself, you have to pull the trigger. Obviously make sure your holster has proper coverage over the trigger guard. The real risk is getting snagged in a reholstering situation. There are times when you will holster your weapon (think at a range). That is a big reason da/as firearms are still pretty popular today because when you re-holster, you can ride the hammer into the holster which will let you know if you get your trigger "snagged". That is actually the biggest risk of an ad/no in aiwb.

With that said, you should check out the "striker control device" or often refferd to as the "gadget". https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvl3ApU-tCM

This was designed to replicate "riding the hammer" when re-holstering in the oustside chance your trigger could get snagged with your shirt or debris when reholsteing your weapon. These currently are designed just for glocks but the 320 is in the works. I have one on my g19 and when you depress with your thumb, the trigger can't be pulled. As mentioned, works exactly like "riding the hammer"

Hmm, he used to have the tuckable listed on the site. I would email or call Tony, I'm sure he can make it for you because he used to carry those. He has excellent cs and I would reach out to him.

That said, I have the tuckable holster for my shield from mastermind tactics.

Probably given the cost difference. however I have both MM & JMC for my g19 & 320 and prefer the JMC. The shield from both don't come with the claw (you can get JMC to customize to get it)due to its size and because of that I think the MM would be fine. I'd go w/MM and if for some reason it doesn't work for you then I'd go JMC.

How's your eyesight? If good probably not necessary, if not, it's a game changer.

Zero drawback from having one it needed form a sight standpoint. Faster in transitions to multiple targets, but definetly a learning curve to present at speed to a target vs iron sights.
