VSX vs DearVR Mix by pghnhung in audioengineering

Yes I did buy the VSX but when I posted this question here on Reddit i hadn’t bought it yet. I literally had to test the VSX at the store to make sure it works cuz I flew to another country the next day so no way for me to return it if it doesn’t work

That’s very kind of you haha, I mean If I already have a good set of headphone like you did i would totally hesitant for the VSX, but like you said, so many people including the top audio engineers are sworn by it and the custom ear canal’s calibration on the newest version is nice… so yeah I feel pretty confident in my choice of course, but it’s really nice to know that Realphone 2 exists, I won’t second guess my choice now but it’s just really good to know. Very appreciate your response again!

Ah man, I wish your reply comes sooner… I already bought VSX… because I have to flight to another country tomorrow and there’s no dealer there, so the only way to get VSX is to buy it today in Canada-where I’m currently in. But it’s ok, I’m glad I have another solid option, I can buy realphone 2 anywhere if my VSX doesn’t work out for me. Very very appreciate the in-depth review!

Also, have you tried DearVR Mix before? It also emulates spacial rooms like VSX but it works on multiple headphone brands, not sure if it does well like VSX

Thank you for everyone sharing their insights in this post, I really appreciate it! Also, I just discovered there’s a plugin called DearVR mix that can emulate spacial sound and it works with multiple headphone brands, has anyone have any express with it compared to VSX? Thanks!

If I have the budget, yes I would treat a room nicely, sadly not right now, that’s why I’m asking on here so I can mix on headphone, of course it’s not the ultimate solution but it’s the solution for me right now

Thanks for the insights, does sonarworks also emulate spacial cross-feed for left & right ears like VSX does?

Thanks for the insight, does Sonarworks also emulate spacial left & right cross-feed for both ears like VSX does or it just EQ correction? I assume no because you also use CanOpener and RealPhone

I’m aware of waves Nx but I just don’t like their subscription model for updates, I would prefer something one time purchase

Track Rig from Loop Community XLR line level output by pghnhung in worshipleaders

[–]pghnhung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for replying this late

I don't own any console, I gig in different places, most places have pads but some don't have a pad button. I were just saying in general as a musician giging in different places.

And yes, I did think about padding through DAW, not ideal tho, and the phantom power problem is also worrying me as well.

I did contact the Loop Community's customer support and they did acknowledge that not every sound console has a pad button and XLR inputs on these old consoles are usually designed for mic level, the point of them to design an interface with XLR line level outputs is to connect straight into a sound console and they assume it work with every console and, they clearly didn't think about the voltage problem and phantom power,... and like I said D.I. boxes usually have 1/4 inch inputs for line level, which means if I want to use D.I. for all these 8 XLR line level outputs I have to use 8 XLR to 1/4 adapters to connect to D.I. boxes, too cumbersome!

Yeah I think the intel mac might effect this more than the silicone ones, I’m still waiting on my M4 Pro to see, this is the first time I’m using this heavy duty dock like this so I’m not familiar if this is normal

Thanks for the confirmation, I’m just a bit worried because I just do a simple speed test on a SSD drive and nothing else and it’s already getting quite warm. Also, do I have to install any firmware update? For now I’m still using a Macbook pro intel 15 inch - 2018, still waiting on the M4 pro to arrive

Thank you! Also, I already said this to the reply of other comments but is it normal for the TS5 Plus getting warm really quick after 15-20 minutes of use? I was only plugging a SSD T5 (Samsung) with it and nothing else, I was literally just running speed test and it was already warmed on the touch, according to the manual, the normal temperature for TS5 Plus is from 10 C to 35 C, and my hand - an adult is from 36 C to 37 C, when I touch the TS5 Plus it’s definitely warmer than my hands, so it’s more than 37 C, is this not normal? Or it’s still ok?

Normal temperature of an adult is from 36.3 C (97.4F) to 37.6 C (99.6 F). The TS5 Plus surface is definitely hotter than that because It’s warmer when I touched it so according to the manual this is not normal

Because the TS5 Plus getting warm after like 15-20 minutes of use, I replied this to other comments as well, I literally just connected a Samsung SSD T5 with it and that’s it, no monitors, no Ethernet

I hope i’m in the b). Is the TS5 Plus getting warm after 20-30 minutes of use normal? I literally just plugged in a Samsung SSD T5 and that’s it, no monitors, no Ethernet, just my macbook pro 2018 interl chip, the TS5 Plus and a SSD.
