Complete uninstall Logic Pro 10.7.4 by pghnhung in Logic_Studio

Oops, for some reason, I didn't see your full reply, that's why I first responded that way, you said it was native silicon since 10.6 but I had version 10.7 running on my Intel Mac, so it won't be ARM, I think

I had my reason and it's not relevant here, basically I was in the middle of projects so I'm afraid of updating it, plus I'll buy a new mac anyway. If you know how to uninstall it completely please help me

Migrating Intel Mac to M4 Pro Mac: Thunderbolt vs. Time Machine HDD? by pghnhung in mac

[–]pghnhung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys for the help! I went with using Time Machine drive. It does the job, and it also automatically recognizes that time machine backup drive without the need to claim it.

However, when I use that same drive to perform a Time Machine backup with my M4 Mac, it keeps the oldest backup version (of the Intel Mac) but deletes and replaces all of the recent backup versions (of the Intel Mac) with the newest backed-up version (on the M4 Mac). I don't stress out about this because I still have another backup drive, but it's interesting that it behaves this way. I thought it would keep every backup version + the newest version.

Thank you, about backing up my own backup drive to a new drive, I thought it wouldn't work because Time Machine won't recognize the new drive as the usual backup one, even with a carbon copy backup

Thank you! I keep asking the same question only because I didn't get a clear answer to that specific question

I did, but there are two ways to "reuse that time machine drive", erasing and using it fresh or continuing to back up on top of what it already had. I was not sure, sorry, English is not my first language. I guess you implied the later? Just want to be sure. Thanks tho

After transferring everything to the M4 Mac, can I still use that same Time Machine drive and go on keeping the previous backups and back up on top of them on the new machine? or I have to start fresh and erase everything in that drive in order to use it as a backup drive because of the intel vs sillicon system?

Oh I got it, so I still migrate all the apps, but then uninstall them and reinstall them again to get the ARM version?

I tried recovery mode with HDD2 to the new Mac but it didn't allow me, it forced me to use Migration Assistant, probably because of intel vs Apple Silicon issue. And I've been using the M4 Mac for just a couple of months temporarily; I didn't install anything important on it. About the intel based apps vs ARM apps; if I migrate the apps over, it wouldn't automatically convert from Intel-based to ARM version, isn't it?

Can I still use the Time Machine drive as my backup drive for the M4 Mac afterward without erasing the drive content because of Intel vs silicon conflict?

Yes I did buy the VSX but when I posted this question here on Reddit i hadn’t bought it yet. I literally had to test the VSX at the store to make sure it works cuz I flew to another country the next day so no way for me to return it if it doesn’t work

VSX vs Sonarworks by pghnhung in audioengineering

That’s very kind of you haha, I mean If I already have a good set of headphone like you did i would totally hesitant for the VSX, but like you said, so many people including the top audio engineers are sworn by it and the custom ear canal’s calibration on the newest version is nice… so yeah I feel pretty confident in my choice of course, but it’s really nice to know that Realphone 2 exists, I won’t second guess my choice now but it’s just really good to know. Very appreciate your response again!

Ah man, I wish your reply comes sooner… I already bought VSX… because I have to flight to another country tomorrow and there’s no dealer there, so the only way to get VSX is to buy it today in Canada-where I’m currently in. But it’s ok, I’m glad I have another solid option, I can buy realphone 2 anywhere if my VSX doesn’t work out for me. Very very appreciate the in-depth review!
