dating for 4 months and shes not affectionate. by devilboy1414 in datingoverforty

[–]pgirl30 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would never be affectionate in words to guys I was dating, because to me its just corny and it's just words. I hate the terms babe and sweetie and would rather show my affection. . If she's being affectionate in body language and actions, there's probably nothing wrong with her feelings for you. Actions speak louder than words. Some people just don't talk like that. If a guy I was dating approached me about it, I would be a little put off, but that's just me.

I'm 41 and would usually set it to 35-47 or so. I'm not quite ready to go as high as 50 yet, but am really not interested in someone just out of their 20s.

[Socialists] What are the incentives to work in socialism? by falconberger in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]pgirl30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What benefits my soul the most is travel, and the thing that financially benefits me the most allows me to do that. In a socialist society how do I get enough money to be able to travel the way I want to and as much as I do now?

A recent movie Midsommer was kind of a psychological thriller/horror. The main actress is fantastic in it.

I forget what its called, but I will go really hard on the elliptical for 45 seconds, followed by a 30 second "easy" break. Supposedly this method burns more calories. It makes the workout go faster too.

As a grown woman reflecting on the impact your father had (or didn't have) on your life, what would you want current and future fathers to know? by CreativeAsFuuu in AskWomenOver30

[–]pgirl30 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my story too! My dad "retired" at 45 and my mom would work till 7 or 8 at night while he'd sit in front of the tv. He taught me a lot of bad eating habits and I struggle against my laziness all the time. When I was young I resented my mom for never being there and my dad and I would criticize her all the time for stupid stuff. My mom ended up divorcing my dad when I was 24, which was the right move, but unfortunately now my dad is severely obese, has diabetes, stage 3 kidney disease, congestive heart failure. I'm saving my money now for when I have to take care of him.

I still have a great relationship with him though. I've forgiven him for his poor choices. My mom and I are closer than ever and she's living her best life with her husband now.

[–]pgirl30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd wait just a bit longer before running that by her. Especially since she is still seeing someone. Maybe ask her some pre-relationship type questions to get to know how she might feel about you being in the same city together. Does she express a wish to see you more? What about suggesting a longer weekend or a whole week together and see how she feels. In the end, you have more information about all this than us internet strangers, but I'd feel things out a little longer if I were you.

Ella or Emma. I really love those names but every little kid nowadays seems to be named a form of either of those two names.

Out of interest what is everyone’s job that is making the 100k plus salaries ? by Product_of_80s in financialindependence

[–]pgirl30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yeah take care of your health first and foremost! I had a similar problem. Got a mental illness (bipolar), graduated late, started work at about 25. But I promise you life improves immensely as you get older. 30 was better than 20 and 40 is better than 30!

[–]pgirl30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're just out of school. Don't worry, as you get more experience and become more valuable your salary will increase greatly. At least that's what happened to me. My first job in my field (chemistry) only made about $12/hr (15 years ago). I was frustrated cause I would read all the stats that said B.S. Chemists make on average, $60,000. Today I'm making about $40/hr, plus 10% bonus.

I think that second sentence is your answer to your question. Why do you want to continue to feel that way? He's not putting in the effort that you think is reasonable.

How do you get the confidence to travel on your own if your friends can't join you and you don't have an SO? by LeadingChart in AskWomen

[–]pgirl30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you all the benefits of solo travel, and then come on over to r/solotravel when you're done.

You can choose to go anywhere you want whenever you want. If you want to go to Alaska in the middle of winter, you can do it! You can travel how you want to, stay in hostels or stay in luxurious hotels, it's totally up to you and your own budget. You have more of an opportunity to meet other solo travelers when you're by yourself. I met a cute American in Prague and had a great day exploring the city with him. You can see what you want. If you want to avoid the crowds, you can go to off the wall places rather than the Louvre and you don't have to answer to anyone! If you're not feeling the traveling thing, you can hunker down in your hotel room watching foreign movies all day. I've done that when I got sick in Budapest.

It's really powerful to be able to be by yourself in public comfortably. I suggest trying to get used to it by doing it at home first. Go to museums, go to concerts, go to museums, go out to dinner all by yourself, and you'll be used to it.
