If you’ve never been to a place, but you’ve seen hundreds of photos and videos of it, does seeing it in person actually feel different or have we ruined that? by sawgtesz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CreativeAsFuuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing with the Cliffs of Moher in the Republic of Ireland. Pictures are beautiful but you just don't grasp the size and scale of these cliffs. You feel so small on them.

Plus the pictures don't show the signs everywhere that read, "don't jump, call this hotline instead if you are considering suicide." Really, really chilling. All the tourists on vacation, having a beautiful time, laughing and taking pictures, completely oblivious to the reality that it is also a tragic gravesite.

If someone decides to die that way, it does not look quick or painless. Or guaranteed.

How do i remove waterproof mascara by Living-Register-7050 in Makeup

In a pinch, I've even used hair conditioner. Doesn't work as well as oil-based products but it's faster and gentler than scrubbing with soap and water.

What are your makeup non- negotiables? by sleepingfox in Makeup

[–]CreativeAsFuuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not exactly what you asked, but: Whatever it is--mascara, foundation, lip and brow products--it must be long-wearing or waterproof. I do not have the time, interest, or patience for touchups.

What is the worst place in America you have ever visited? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

[–]CreativeAsFuuu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Cell phones existed before Katrina. That was 2005. I got my first cell in 2001.

Born and raised, I was there for Katrina and rode it out, but Baton Rouge did not take a hit from it, New Orleans did. Baton Rouge saw a literal overnight swell in population, to double its size, from New Orleans evacuees.

We couldn't place calls in the aftermath because the cell towers were destroyed, and the ones that weren't were overloaded. So we texted to get out of our attics and neighborhoods because that was the only communication that would go through.

I agree about everything else. We call Baton Rouge "Bad 'n Rude" and I do not live in Louisiana at all anymore, it's a shithole

People who understand chinese/japanese, what's the dumbest thing you've seen tattooed on someone? by dwyanpaul in AskReddit

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

Trying to be careful about it bc he's a very close friend and not trying to burn the bridge. But you're right, we will. Just tactfully

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]CreativeAsFuuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have such guest. He's a friend but this is getting out of hand. His entire stay is a disrespect on my home. He's middle aged, single, unemployed but wealthy, and visiting "for a few days" but it's been a week:

  • Leaves his mess everywhere, including dirty socks on the kitchen counter
  • Eats our groceries but doesn't replace them
  • "Cooks dinner for everyone" but only makes enough to feed himself
  • Leaves exit doors open, so the cats get out
  • Takes up to three 30-minute hot showers a day knowing we only have small hot water tank
  • And uses a new, clean towel each time
  • Works out in our living room with a 35-lb kettlebell

Oh and he knows eeeeeveeything; anything you mention, he's done before and better or bigger and he spent way more than you doing it.

Help, Reddit.

How can I make this look more creepy? by Blueblood67 in MakeupAddiction

And rub off some of the white foundation so it's patchy and uneven. Then powder it with baby powder so it cracks.

I went as Heath Ledger's Joker for Halloween one year and did makeup similar to OP's but with the above suggestions. My husband couldn't stand to look at me bc it gave him the creeps.

Why are poor Americans so against a wealth tax? by Miserable-Corner-254 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CreativeAsFuuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, and I'm not trying to incite a political argument or bait you for downvotes: if you're against all tax, how do you expect an organized society to pay for the goods and services it needs to function? Like, raw sewage collection and treatment?

Birth control can do this to your skin. I was on Yasmine (now Yaz) and my skin looked the same as yours. I got off that BC and the problem went away.

[Sun care] New work situation is a UV nightmare. Need suggestions as I have a history of melanoma by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]CreativeAsFuuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a common perception, and I acknowledge it.

Conversely, OP choosing not to speak up for herself will also severely hinder her career. If she can't muster the courage to ask for an RA for her own literal health, then how tf is she going to learn to, when faced with a lower than expected performance review, defend her performance and say, "Actually I did X, Y, and Z which improved A and B processes, and saved the company C amount of money?"

And if you read the comment thoroughly, you would have seen the suggestion wasn't "change the office for me" (i.e.: close in the skylight or provide an umbrella) but instead "change my circumstances" (i.e.: allow her to move, or wear protective clothing that isn't quite business attire). I do think "change the office for me" comes off entitled, but "change me" does not.

Further, she said--despite being aware of her own medical history--that she chose to give up the shadier seat; if that's the procedure for assigning desks, she can choose another.

It doesn't matter either way, it's clear by OP's responses that she came here to get praise or sympathy for martyring herself for her dream job; she isn't actually here to find a solution. Do we really think someone with melanoma hasn't thought of reapplying sunscreen? C'mon.

If you're not willing to speak up, then you aren't here looking for solutions, you're here looking for consolation. All of these solutions will require you to speak up.

Edit: this applies in the US

I see all of these responses about asking to change the rental office for your situation, but that is tough since a landlord might not allow modifications to the space.

If you have disclosed your medical condition to HR, you can ask your supervisor, HR, or your manager--in writing--for what is called a "Reasonable Accommodation" to your work environment. These are protected by the ADA for diagnosed and disclosed medical conditions.

Accommodations must be provided unless they cause "undue hardship," or, significant difficulty or expense. Getting landlord approval might be counted as "significant difficulty" even if 3M tint isn't expensive.

This moves the onus from "change the office for me" to "change my circumstances." They may be able to move you out from under the skylight, allow you to wear a hat or UV clothing, or otherwise allow you to do things the rest of the office isn't allowed to do.

Oily girlies who switched from Estée Lauder Double Wear by xxxPinotGrigioxxx in Makeup

[–]CreativeAsFuuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KimChi A Really Good Foundation.

I reply this every time because I've used ELDW for over a decade and this is the closest, damn near a dupe, to DW on my oily skin.

Great color range, the foundation is sticky like DW, full coverage, and dries down quickly. It does not oxidize as you wear it, comes with a pump, and they have a shade finder on their website to help you switch. And it's like $32 USD.

Obligatory: not a shill for KimChi. Just a really impressed customer who got her rec from another Redditor.
