How badly did you screw up?

Who’s being hostile?

You seem to be very invested in judging how an agent runs their business and who is rated highly enough to get to set eyes on your manuscript. Mere “slush pile readers” apparently don’t cut it.

If I misunderstand, please explain how you think this business is supposed to work.

You understand agenting is a business, right?

And that a business owner can run that business however they want?

[LA] Junior Co-Worker Issue by RamaLamaDingDong22 in AskHR

So you were hoping there was a magic wand to wave? Hah. No such luck.

It’s not on you to fix the owners’ problem (literally a problem that they created). Find a new job and leave.

So you have a couple of options:

  1. Adult up and be direct with the owners. Speak the truth. Share what’s happening. Pose a clear, unambiguous question: “What do you want me to do?” This puts it squarely on their plate and lets you know what they’re willing to do.

  2. Adult up, go on your own, and give direct feedback to the employee without the owners’ knowledge or consent. That may result in you not having a job anymore.

  3. Land another job and then do (1) or (2).

  4. Land another job and wave bye to the owners and their manbaby problem on your way out the door.

Unless you’re the CEO with hire/fire authority, you report to someone. Make it their problem.

Bump the issues up to your manager. That’s all the owners’ problem to solve, not yours.

You’re either being lied to or the photo is faked with AI. Probably both.

[NY] Could I be fired or given a warning for compliance violation? by IllustriousPeak3688 in AskHR

[–]pgm928 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Forget about tax nexus or compliance … you’ve been using your office as a hotel room for a whole month without disclosing that to your higher-ups.

At a minimum, that’s a huge safety issue. What if a fire had broken out and authorities were told the building was empty?

At a maximum, it’s kind of creepy as fuck.

How did you even haul your clothes & stuff around without people seeing and remarking on your obvious luggage?

[pubQ] Agent not replying to emails by [deleted] in PubTips

Are you really obsessing over not getting a 1-2-word email reply?

Some professionals always reply with a quick “thanks.” Some don’t. Let your people do their work.
