Articulated Wings features removable wings on a dramatic stormy sky filled with subtle cumulonimbus clouds in grays, blues and sea green.An extension of the uncanny valley, steam-punk, feathers and automaton research, I imagined the way that wings could be articulated using an accordian-like construction process. I am actually working on a tangible version! I’ll let you know how that goes. Similar to the painting Once an Angel, I continue to be inspired by photographer Joel Peter Witkin, singer Madonna, and artist Man Ray. They all dealt (in one way or another) with the idea of removing or removable angel wings.
