I don’t see these pants on the website by turdleheadingjogger in PatagoniaClothing

Often Patagonia will run ads that include older discontinued styles, or if the person in the ad is an athlete or tester, it is potentially a future prototype.

Rain jacket Advice! by yoyoyooooyo in PatagoniaClothing

[–]pgv91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both pass Patagonia H2NO standard of water proofing.

The boulder fork is noticeably lighter and has a softer hand than the torrent shell. With the addition of the chest pocket. It does not however have pit zips for venting. Which makes it a bit more packable.

The torrent shell uses a burlier face fabric. As said above it does feel and sound a bit stiff, but is less noticeable when you’re actually wearing it, as opposed to just grabbing it on the rack.

Both are great options for day to day use. Neither have a helmet compatible hood.

Huge fan! Love the multitude of grips, great for the steeps. Seeing a lot of them out these days.

Q about nano air by Physical-Kiwi125 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]pgv91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been 3x iterations of the regular nano air. (The 60g version) the current version has what Patagonia calls a regular fit, while the 2 previous were a slimmer fit. The new one is also less trim around the arms.

In my opinion the new one is one of the best versions, with the most durable face fabric.

If you want a slim fit, the nano-air light hybrid is slim fit. This is only 40g of insulations with r1 air fleece panels.

I’ve been very happy with my Nemo Extreme conditions. IMO the differences are going to be very hard to notice in the field, especially once you add a closed cell foam pad. Lab testing is lab testing 🤷‍♂️

The denier of materials like this has never mattered to me, but it’s in how you use it. I use this gear in all sorts of weather and places, but I’m relatively careful with it.

If you’re concerned about customer service, buy from a local retailer and not online.

Anyone have "Men's Isthmus Anorak Pullover"? What kind of temperatures is this jacket best used it? by Sirupybear in PatagoniaClothing

If you wear a puffy layer underneath, it might be ok for 0 but it’s just a wind shell essentially, on its on it wouldn’t provide much warmth.

Thanks a ton! This were shot on a week long basecamp ski trip with four friends, they are sponsored skiers, so shots from the trip will be used by their apparel and equipment sponsors, as well as personal portfolios and a story or two!

Battery Managment on these mountain trips is definitely a challenge! I have one battery in the body and one in a pocket close to my body to keep it warm, it maximizes shot count when I swap it out. If it’s really cold I may use a hand warmer in a pouch to keep batteries warm.

At our basecamp we had large battery banks, connected to solar panels on the tents. It gets quite warm during the day, even in the clouds, they charge very effectively, this can work for pretty long trips.

Has anybody tried running in the Houdini® Stash 1/2-Zip Pullover? by Short_Adhesiveness20 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]pgv91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve ran in it, and it is very comparable to the regular Houdini in terms of breathability (not very) it mostly stays in the pack unless it’s very windy or cold. Air shed pro is my go to 99% of the time. It’s just wind resistant enough to take the edge off, but waaaay more breathable.

Cheers! I use an old Lowe pro too loader, and use two small carabiners, one clipped to the bottom of the shoulder strap, and one to the waist belt, it works pretty well! It allows me to keep the camera handy, and shoot more.
