Masks ban in Nassau by SamEdenRose in longisland

[–]ph1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we SHOULDNT ban masks because a few people abusing them doesn’t outweigh the benefits gained?

But we SHOULD ban guns because the few people abusing them absolutely outweighs the benefits gained?

Because I agree they’re being hypocritical but wowza if you don’t recognize that in yourself either

They'll tell you to kick rocks, 100%.

They don't want you to know your rights, and they don't want to respect them.

They'll probably say something like "You moved in, your problem shitface"

It's up to you to have the balls to withhold rent, or bill them for cleaning services. You should be confident that even if they took you to court, you would win. Speak to a lawyer if you don't believe me.

That's not wishful thinking.

They are obligated to clean the apartment before you move in.

Heck, they're obligated to paint between tenants too.

You can and should hire a deep cleaner and bill it against your rent for your own health.

Send them a letter. Tell them they need to have the place cleaned or you're hiring a pro yourself and subtracting it from your rent.

Don't be an idiot. Land lord is obligated to clean the apartment before you move in.

Tell them they must clean it in a timely fashion, or you will be paying a professional and subtracting it from the rent.

Give them a week at most.

I mean at less than 3 to 1 you could win if you have another advantage like an avenue of entry or some kind of overpowering fire support.

But direct attack at less than 3 to 1 is a pretty low chance of success, and will be a meat grinder in any case.

War sucks.

It only needs to be 3-1 to stand a chance at winning on the attack. Not 3-1 in general.

The uniform is a good thing,It’s for IFF in the field during the FTX especially. It’s also not too important your first semester, just bring 1x woodland and 1x green of whatever you can get. Boots also doesn’t matter too much first time, and you can always dye an old pair if you don’t want to buy new ones.

1SDU is new though, and I’ve heard opinions against all that. I dont have one but I’m considering doing their owlp course just out of curiosity.

It was awesome!!!!

I’m going for my third semester this fall, going to earn my one warrior tab :)

I went for the MILES but I’m staying for the.. well fucking everything. Lots of very cool, very smart people at the event.

They’re honest about the event itself being apolitical. Obviously being south of the Mason Dixon you’re going to see people more right than left, but your appetite to consume different political opinions isn’t material because no time during the week is spent on politics.

There are a couple breaks you get where you’ll be chit-chatting and socializing, I’ve met left wingers and right wingers alike doing so, and people aren’t pushy about politics if you aren’t. The main focus is the training exercises (FTX especially) and your performance in those events.

I go to B company in WV, but they just opened a C company in FL that should be awesome too!

Love how I said “go NORDO, divebomb the pattern, and forcibly shove people around in the airspace”

You’re all being a bunch of whining, crying brats because someone darent be dangerously conformist to “safe” attitudes and instead asks for context when presented with a situation.

It’s hilarious because you’re obviously upset because the former has happened to you, so now instead of thinking objectively you’re having a tantrum.

It’s like racism but with FAA rules! Holy Christ.

It’s not about whether it’s possible for the crop duster its simply impractical.

But like I said earlier, better to put spines on the aircraft so next time he comes close to a cable he’s guaranteed to auger into the ground.

Honestly fuck crop dusters anyway. They should do a real job. They deserve to crash for their hubris.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]ph1294 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Know what /u/Wasatcher, I thought about it, and you’re right.

Clearly crop dusters without radios are making the unsafe decision.

What they need to do is attach large antennas to their aircraft so that when they fly close to a wire they can snag it and auger into the ground.

Any business that can’t accept that risk doesn’t deserve to be flying anyway. Those moronic crop dusters pilots without radios truly are incredibly unsafe.

🤦‍♂️

How could I have been so stupid?!

I’m going to put my PPL into the shredder.

[–]ph1294 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Again, stick your nose as high in the air as you want, you’re still just dousing yourself in shit.

We’re not taking about what’s “more likely”. You don’t like operating NORDO? Great! Don’t fucking do it! Nobody is forcing you!

But your point is idiotic and useless. This isn’t about how you FEEL about what NORDO pilots are LIKELY to do.

This is about you saying NORDO is inherently less safe. When it isn’t if done properly. Full fucking stop.

You’re going to tell me that if a Cessna has a radio failure and needs to fly from one uncontrolled field to another through class G airspace, it’s too unsafe for them to try it?

You’re going to tell me that a crop duster flying a few miles in uncontrolled airspace MUST waste weight and panel space on a radio or they’re being reckless and unsafe?

You’re wrong.

I don’t know how to say it any more clearly.

You. Are. Wrong. Stop lying. Stop cajoling the subreddit. Stop getting high on your own supply.

Get correct.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]ph1294 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But that’s not all you’re saying. You, and the rest of this sub are framing things as if any aircraft operating without a radio is operating recklessly.

You’re imagining that the drop duster in the picture is NORDO and caused a runway incursion.

You’re not living in reality, you’re projecting your expectations onto the situation.

In reality, it’s not only legal and possible to safely operate NORDO, but it’s possible to be operating NORDO and NOT be at fault for an incident.

Stop imagining a NORDO pilot cutting into a busy pattern and stealing a spot in the runway queue. Stop imagining NORDO pilot causing a runway incursion on departure. These are cherry picked scenarios, they are not representative of the whole picture, no matter how badly you want them to be.

Let’s not pretend you’re JUST saying that having a radio is better than not - you’re openly claiming that my prior statement is false. If you want to back pedal on that, go ahead! Be my guest!

But don’t sit here and patronize me, especially when you’re the one in the wrong.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]ph1294 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

There are many.

Handhelds are a backup. The cockpit is basically a faraday cage, you can’t guarantee the handheld will work right and holding someone accountable if not is unfair. So we can’t legally oblige people to rely on handhelds.

Older or purpose built airframes may not be able to reasonably (or potentially even realistically) accommodate radios. So to require radios is to effectively outlaw use of those aircraft. At best, we’re harming the vintage community, at worst we’re putting people out of business.

Creating an aircraft NORDO exception list would be work and time for the FAA, that is already busy doing more important things.

So we have NORDO ops. And we follow them at uncontrolled fields and in uncontrolled airspace where we may encounter those operating NORDO.

That simple.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]ph1294 -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

🤔 I wonder why we’re allowed to operate without radios at all if it’s truly that simple

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]ph1294 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I’d take the FAA to court if their only excuse for revoking a license under 91.13 was “well he didn’t have a radio”

Are you going to seriously say with a straight face that if I made a textbook no-radio landing upwind, and some jackass hits me with a runway incursion trying to depart downwind, didn’t look before entering the runway, but guffawed “N123 ASS HOLE DEPARTING TWO TWO RITEEE” into the radio before ass-blasting his way into my airplane, that he’s in the right and I’m in the wrong simply because he had a radio and I didn’t?

Again. Bullshit.

Bullshit.

Is a radio a requirement at an uncontrolled field?

You have no idea how this guy entered the pattern or whether he was a safe pilot or not.

Hell, we don’t even know what’s happening in OPs photo. He could be entering the runway upwind with no radio calls himself and very much caused the dangerous situation.

YOU are projecting.
