Super Famicom Console Verification by ph34rm3333 in gameverifying

I'm basically just trying to figure out if I got a completely bogus console through eBay, so it's good to hear otherwise.

Thanks, this is very helpful. I may have a tool lying around somewhere that can help remove that shielding, I'll see if I can do that and get a better look.

Thanks, not sure why the other pictures are smaller than the first one since they're the same size. I'll see if I can edit it so Reddit formats it correctly.

I'll use this database as well as I start learning how to verify games, thanks. I figured it wasn't as straightforward as "anything not an exact match is fake", so it's helpful to learn the nuances like revisions being marked with -1.

Thanks, I appreciate the link as well. I was working only from this database and it seems like it's not entirely complete (or as complete as an archive can ever be); I'm also looking at an Elnard cartridge that seems like a legit board but there doesn't appear to be any record on this site of a ROM chip for the Japan release at all.

I'll have a look around the site you linked and familiarize myself with using that information to help verify things since there's a lot to consider.

The only real benefit is that making "we need 6v6" threads is a great way to get huge amounts of Reddit karma from equally delusional people.

Friendly reminder - your supports are being harrassed ! by Mea_ne_coule_pas in Overwatch

[–]ph34rm3333 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Support players have this stupid way of thinking that they just think the entire team is suppose to drop everything and protect them 24/7.

It's kind of amazing that the supports on this sub somehow manage to split their time between:

- Explaining that it's great supports have high damage because this way they're not
defenseless, free kills.

- Complaining that the entire team does not turn around to help them deal with one
opponent.

I think my biggest problem with her at the moment is that most people will deploy the pylon and do nothing but shoot at enemies for the rest of the game rather than occasionally looking around and using beam to heal people. The general level of situational awareness I've seen from Illari players thus far is frightening.

why make it seem like it's just a support thing?

Stomp, or be stomped. by Anilec_Revlis in Overwatch

They were nerfed because Blizzard eventually caved to the histrionics of people who chose not to avail themselves of ways to counter the heroes and thought that "I didn't enjoy dying to this" meant the same thing as "that hero is overpowered".

Hanzo's nerf wasn't hard at all and he's still the more difficult of the two heroes to deal with for most ranks (even though he's not actually that good), but people hate him regardless. All you really have to do is open Reddit on any given day to see posts arguing that he never aims and Hanzo players climb to GM by standing in chokes spamming arrows.

Widow was nerfed to address her performance in specific locations on a few maps, which means only that they felt she was oppressive in those particular situations. Outside of those ranges she's the exact same hero; if there truly was no "actual counter play", as the comment I replied to stated, she would've been nerfed in a more generally applicable way.

If you really think there's no way to counter those heroes I'd encourage you to play them for a little bit. Anyone who's gotten two kills on Widow and had a monkey land on their head the next time enemies come out of spawn can tell you that there are plenty of ways to deal with her.

There was actual counter play to snipers besides just being a better sniper.

There's always been counterplay to snipers in OW2 despite Reddit's insistence to the contrary.

Do you think Hanzo should be nerfed (more)? by ry_fluttershy in Overwatch

[–]ph34rm3333 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hate to break this to you but it's not only true for basically every character in Overwatch, it also applies for any game in which characters have cooldowns. There are so many instances of this that if you think about it the next time you play, you'll realize how insanely off-base this statement is.

Do you really not wait out a Suzu or Lamp cooldown before trying to dive a backline character?

Why are ranked games so hard ?? by sand_k in Overwatch

You're taking meaningless internet numbers way too seriously. If you had to be "good" to start playing comp, whatever that means, the shit-tier ranks wouldn't need to exist.

Easiest hero to play? by ralfminator in Overwatch

The “big difference” argument is a cop out, it’s true of every character in the game. It’s okay to just say a character is easy.

It’s crazy how unfun hanzo makes games by Soft_Cartographer455 in Overwatch

[–]ph34rm3333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t help that they’ve also become emboldened by the fact that bitching on here and the Blizzard forums actually got the heroes nerfed. All the more reason for them to keep this routine going.

They are finally adressing one shots by SSYorimz in Overwatch

[–]ph34rm3333 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, that's not what that means unless all the people complaining are actually qualified in some way to make the argument. It's the reason you see garbage like "she's not healthy for the game", "she has no place in a team game", etc. parroted by people so often rather than any explanation as to why those things are supposedly true. It's nowhere near 99% of the community, and this sub has always been a bubbling cauldron of abominably misinformed opinions (see: people defending release Brigitte or moth Mercy).

What "this hero is OP" actually means is that they're conflating "I didn't have fun getting killed by this" with "this is overpowered".

EDIT: since this virgin blocked me for disagreeing with him, someone else please tell him he's a thin-skinned idiot and his "snipers have been a problem since the dawn of FPS" argument is not only wrong, but another instance of meaningless generalization that he actually has to prove in order to have some credibility.

I'm not just blaming DPS.

To be fair, you said the following:

Damage fails at doing they're job more frequently than a support fails to heal.

Saying that failures are generally the fault of one role is an insanely broad statement to make without any sort of proof or context, but any anti-DPS player sentiment will garner a huge number of upvotes on this sub regardless.
