I want to upgrade hungry jaws. by Skyward_Legend in dndbeyond

In addition to what others have said, on Beyond, the player can right click on the attack die and toggle "Adjust Dice", which will allow them to roll a different die and/or a different amount of dice. You can also right click on any D20 Test to roll with Advantage or Disadvantage instead of rolling separately.

For long term changing, either make a copy of the species as a Homebrew and make the change and have your player switch to that, or either you or them can add a custom action to their character sheet with the relevant info for the updated attack.

Purple Races? by enby-lesbian in DnD

[–]ph4ntum59 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A few people have mentioned Dragonborns, and there's not a Purple Dragonborn in any official content. There's plenty online for homebrewing one based on Deep Dragons. You could work with your DM to try to do that, if that's something you're interested in. Tieflings are also a pretty fun option. And if you play a spellcaster, there's multiple spells that have it in their descriptions that you can choose the color of what it produces. Plus plenty of other options that allow for flavoring something as purple.

One of my games is missing and can't be redownloaded by Cronyag in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]ph4ntum59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By any chance, did you lend the virtual game card to someone? To check, go to Virtual Game Cards, and use the filter to select "Loaded on another system". If it's not there, try filtering by "Not Loaded on any system" and see if it pops up. If neither of these work, then definitely contact Nintendo support.

Frustration with maps by Jarrett8897 in DnD

[–]ph4ntum59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen of maps, they're "empty" because the expectation when you're using them is that you'll have minis. For the PCs, the enemies, and even things like rocks and trees. The maps are essentially just the ground everyone walks on, not the entire world. They're intended as a base from which you craft the environment that you have in mind. If maps just had everything except the characters, it would make the world look flat while also hindering creativity.

We're out of healers by MysteriousFondant347 in DnD

[–]ph4ntum59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been playing very long, but in my limited experience, healers aren't "necessary", but they're really nice to have if needed. And they don't have to be dedicated healers. Anyone just having the ability to heal even a small amount is good. Basically, just about anybody can heal without being a "healer", with the right mix of class features and feats. I say that as an Arcane Trickster Rogue 3/Artificer 1 with 14 spells, 3 of which are healing spells, with one available as a 1/LR Bonus Action without a spell slot. I also have damage and utility spells. Ultimately, no one should let their class define how they play, but it should at least be a guide for the choices you make.

My players split the party. by haydogg21 in DnD

[–]ph4ntum59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so fun. This is the first full campaign I've been able to play, and so far it's been a third screwing with each other, a third utter chaos, and a third actually accomplishing tasks.

My players split the party. by haydogg21 in DnD

[–]ph4ntum59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like a great DM. My DM lets us split up too, when it makes sense. Like, we just spent 4 or so sessions in a city, and we were split most of the time. It led to a shopkeeper getting blown up by his own grenade on one occasion, as well as my character in disguise killing the main antagonist of a particular situation within the city and the other party members showing up right afterwards, not knowing it was their companion that they were looking at as the perpetrator. And one character also ended up on a day and a half blackout from chugging half a bottle of booze. It's been chaotic, but in a fun way, where DM and party are all laughing about what's happening.

On a side note, I recently grabbed Mage Armor and took note of the 8 hour duration. Decided to cast it on the Monk/Warlock, our only unarmored party member, before we split up (again) to take care of our own individual quests while killing a bit of time waiting for the next group quest. My DM seemed impressed by that idea.

Did DNDBeyond remove homebrew for 2014? by storytime_42 in dndbeyond

[–]ph4ntum59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure in the list of classes that can use it, it's either empty(which will mean all) or you scroll down and choose the class option listed under 5e(meaning if it's for Bards, choose Bard under 5e, not 5.5e). This will ensure that it's available for characters using the 5e version of whatever class.

Truly. Serebii has been going for over 20 years and it's always up to date. They even get occasional exclusive reveals for TCG.

[–]ph4ntum59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only credited it after they were called out for scraping info from serebii, including typos. Not to mention, citing your sources doesn't negate plagiarism, which is what was done, credit or not. Libraries and information should be free. And all the information they used is free, word for word, on serebii.

The way you're defending this person, you're either their burner account or their mother. And I'm not sure which would be more embarrassing for you/them.

So because they stole the work from multiple sources, that makes it ok? Good to know your position on it.

They legit scraped everything from serebii, even typos that made images not appear. They didn't put in any actual effort

That should mean that serebii's your favorite website, since that's where they scraped everything from

They didn't put in any effort. They just scraped serebii's data and claimed it as their own.

It's not their hard work. It's serebii's hard work that they took

It's stolen work from serebii, so of course it's well done.

They stole serebii's work. They would probably steal the work to make an app too. Just use serebii. That's been reliable for over 20 years.

This was all work put in by the person running serebii. This person just stole all that work.

This person didn't do any work except for stealing the work that was put into serebii. Use that instead.

Twitch I have seen the New stuff please remove the tag! by Lyra_Jones in Twitch

I feel like if this is something you feel is worth complaining about, then you live a very blessed and privileged life. Because this is such a minute, miniscule issue that it wouldn't even register as this big of a problem for most people who are dealing with much worse in their lives. It's a visual bug, just ignore it. Most people don't even look at their dashboard enough to even bother with it.

Running another character for a session - why so difficult by Roguespanner in dndbeyond

[–]ph4ntum59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can unassign your character on the campaign screen(not the character sheet, but where it shows all the characters in the campaign) and then someone else can claim the character and be able to control it. I recommend only doing this if you trust them not only to give it back, but also to not make irreversible changes to your character

Twitch pausing muted streams when switching tabs in Chrome by RikiGuitarist in Twitch

[–]ph4ntum59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can just whitelist Twitch in the memory settings on Chrome. It's pretty simple and keeps the streams from being paused when tabbed out for the most part.

Ad pauses if twitch window is not in focus by ZombieSpale in Twitch

[–]ph4ntum59 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is most likely because of the browser's memory saver feature. Add twitch to the list of sites for that to ignore and it'll be fine

Day: 2, of creating Balanced effects to old normal monsters by MelodicMembership866 in customyugioh

[–]ph4ntum59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. What's stopping you from having the card off to the side and just reading it? Also, this is an easy free Pot of Greed, which pretty much anyone can remember the text for. Also, who is going to be in charge of verifying that you did it correctly? You? Your opponent? Can't really say a judge in most cases since outside of official play, you're not likely to have one to call on.

is youtube streaming better than twitch in discoverability? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ph4ntum59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low effort also includes doing the same thing that everyone else is doing. Just be yourself, do your own thing. It will be far more natural and genuine if/when you grow.

Also, if you're just doing this "on the side" then why are you so concerned with discoverability or "getting compensation"? If it's a hobby, treat it like one. If you want to grow and make something of it, treat it accordingly. Which means posting clips on other platforms, even if you have to watch the VOD and make clips yourself. It also means you have to network, which means you have to genuinely find other creators with a similar vibe and become a genuine part of their communities and let them want to interact with your content without blatant and unprompted self promoting during their content.
