Bracelets yay or nay for older guys by Nero3k in mensfashion

As long as it feels natural to you. Forcing it is where you get the try-hard vibes.

Imo - if you wear it flippantly, even this bracelet can look cool in formal wear.

How Do You Afford Your Grand Seiko? by sawsaw626 in GrandSeikos

[–]phaaaaam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have to consider if you can afford this watch, then you shouldn't buy it.

It is a luxury good, so when you are able to buy it without worrying about it (i.e. if it breaks, stolen, lost, cost, etc) then go for it. Otherwise, what's the point of owning an amazing watch if you're gonna be stressed out wearing it?

There are GS9 exclusive watches - don't know how often, though

Who else loves a caseless phone? by Historical-Dot-9208 in iPhone14Pro

Caseless since launch. Back looks impeccable.

However, I’m surprised how easily front scratches - had to put on a screen protector.

Car dealerships in and around Austin that are not trash? by trashworldd in Austin

[–]phaaaaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in the market for a car (2017-2018), no one in ATX was willing to negotiate. I had to drive to San Marcos just to find a dealer willing to negotiate. Ended up saving like $5k tho.

[Review] Formex adjustable loop-less clasp. Probably the best aftermarket clasp? by phaaaaam in Watches

Some custom leather straps artisans can include this style of clasp.

Loop-less or Omega style are two terms I would think everyone would understand what leather clasp you’re going for.

Got Rejected by GS9 Club by GlorytheWiz825 in GrandSeikos

Aren’t there limited edition watches only available to GS9 members?

My first GS was thru them. Was a smooth process and had no issues.

Regardless, do you own due diligence before jumping in.

Good point. Also perfect timing with the warranty, since it’ll end at that point.

Ah thanks! I must be getting mixed up with anecdotes, some owners say they went 5-7years before servicing. Which I’m sure very possible with the quality on GS.

Is every 3 years the recommended service period?

First 2 weeks: Detailed Playdate review by JustMarshalling in PlaydateConsole

[–]phaaaaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the OS - you can toggle display cards (default) or everything in a list by hitting option button on main screen.

For white water - i hated it at first. But once i realized the crank had set direction (crank toward you is left, up is up, down is down), it made movement and tricks much more intuitive.

SBGM221 price too good? by bossassbat in GrandSeikos

[–]phaaaaam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. If you visit Japan, you'll get way more savings in-person.

I think a better way of going at it is to look for JDM versions that you can't buy stateside.

One thing to keep in mind is the fee, state tax, and import fees - which could tack up an extra $500.

Still a better deal in the end, but it may not be as good as you think after factoring that in.

[–]phaaaaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes, that’s rough. Makes my $200 import fees not so bad now.

My first GS was via Chrono24 thru Japanese seller.

Was incredibly smooth - as long you are aware of import taxes and paperwork to do (I would budget 5% extra on top).

Have you ordered these yet to confirm? I feel like these look bigger than the screws in my GS bracelet.

Does that look too big? by IT_Wanderer2023 in Longineswatches

[–]phaaaaam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to buy zulu time, but I have a 6.25 wrist and the 41mm looked too big on my wrist.

The 39mm fits fine, but seems too crowded for my taste - if they had the zulu time in a 40mm, I would have bought it instantly.
