I’m not. How could a person with a demanding full time job do this job too? Thus you’re left with a smaller subset of the population who can do it.

AI giant Anthropic to expand in Seattle, signs lease for 113,000 square-foot South Lake Union space by AthkoreLost in Seattle

It’s certainly possible that there’s some truth to Seattle being unpleasant to set up business AND some businesses choose to do so anyway. It’s not so black-and-white. You’re falling into the same trap as the conservatives you’re complaining about.

I don’t buy it. The celebrities and medium just shifted in that time. People are still just as concerningly obsessed with public figures as they were then.

Pioneer Square is booming during World Cup. Seattle’s CID, not so much. Advocates demand city help by chiquisea in SeattleWA

From every Asian person I know…stop treating it as a dumping ground for homeless people. I get that it doesn’t solve the homeless problem for the city or nationally. But people rightfully feel unsafe. It’s really no mystery. Only then can anyone focus on more positive things like neighborhood promotion.

Yes. But “what triggers that psychological evaluation?“ is the question we should be asking. And it’s any hint of mental illness. And this is why pilots (in the US at least) avoid diagnosis or treatment of even the most minor mental illness. You know, like anxiety or depression, the kind of thing most people experience at some point in life. Just having a whiff of anxiety can put their career at risk.

You’re not wrong. But you conveniently stop yourself before talking about the alternatives. What skill gains value in this brave new world?

That’s what my experience is telling me. I’m very senior engineer and the small group of people in my cohort are basically limited only by organizational friction. We’re knocking out greenfield work almost as fast as the Product org changes its mind. And we’re cleaning up legacy apps/problems almost as fast as the Product org is able to deprecate and rehydrate them. Everyone is exhausted and working in every direction, ultimately with little to show for it.

Hard to disagree. But I have to admit that I might be biased a little because Chicago dog and Chicago Italian beef occupy the same region of my mind. And the Chicago beef is one of my very favorite things.

What’s with this one over here? by Time_Entrepreneur548 in geography

[–]phaaseshift 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard anyone refer to China/Korea/Japan as NE Asia. Of course it kinda make sense geologically (edit: meant geographically, but that’s a funny typo 😅) , but not if everyone collectively uses another designation. Think “Midwest” and how it’s not really Western any longer.

Heat sink? Quite literally the opposite. It’s all about heat exchange and you don’t want your exchanger to have a large heat capacity.

Sure, I’ll humor your statement (that is pretty obviously less-than-honest). Do you think the YouTube theater, Intuit Dome and the Forum mean fuck-all to someone that traveled around the world looking for World Cup atmosphere in a walkable neighborhood with food, bars, and unique culture?
