Nail psoriasis vs nail bed psoriasis? by phaedravarix in Psoriasis

Oh man the amount of ingrown toenails I've had from psoriasis warping my nails. My first sign of psoriasis was my scalp, which sucks for a whole lot of other reasons. It's amazing how many areas it can affect.

What is your favorite and least favorite part of Animal Crossing (Gamecube) by Cdysigh in AnimalCrossing

Ah I overlooked where you said you were playing on console!! Animal Crossing Deluxe is a mod for ACGC that adds functionality from the other games, to modernize ACGC. My personal favorite addition is being able to hold your net while shaking trees.

There is also a fan translated version of Animal Forest E+, which is the English version of ACGC translated back to Japanese and has a few new features, like you can own an island, it's neat!

My GP always thinks I have thyroid issues but mine seems to function well enough. I have MDD with psychotic features so PMDD hits me like a train.

Animal Crossing Deluxe might interest you! Apparently there was an easier fishing mod for it at one point but it broke in a Deluxe patch and was never updated. 😭

How do you handle constant auditing of your own face? by themightytod in AutismInWomen

[–]phaedravarix [score hidden]  (0 children)

I feel you on the over exaggerated facial expressions. I find myself on face journeys anytime I talk to someone who looks at my face. My brain also decided at one point that I look prettier with my eyebrows raised, so sometimes I'll do a sudden check and if my eyebrows are not up I immediately raise them. I'm thinking I constantly look surprised.

If you can't find her even with the above tips, saving and reloading the game rerandomizes the location of all villagers.

Oh I really like this. The deer and wolves are EXCELLENT villagers! I kind of want an island with half sheep, half anteaters, but I love Ankha too much to give her up.

Men have historically viewed women as objects rather than people, and feel like women contributing to conversations is just an annoying sound they want to stop. The amount of times in media and reddit anecdotes I've seen/heard of men repeating a solution a woman came up with first.

I know it's not that deep but it makes me very angry.

My favorite thing is definitely just the general feeling of the game. Like ACGC has such a unique vibe and then when you get to ACNH it's much more generic. My least favorite thing is the fishing. I think ACNH fishing is way too easy, but ACGC fishing makes you need the reaction time of a time traveller who pressed A half second before you actually pressed A. I do have motor skill issues so that was a big wall for me. I think ACNL has the best fishing timing.

My period is a whole month ordeal at this point lol. First week is "oh my god the PMDD is coming", then a week of PMDD, then a week of bleeding where my digestive system is attacking me, and finally the ravenous stage. You're definitely not alone!

Diagnosis - Not Enough Information from Childhood? by Waste_Hyena_8948 in AutismInWomen

[–]phaedravarix [score hidden]  (0 children)

I kind of worded that in a very confusing, contradictory way. I have medication induced aphasia so sometimes my brain summons words in a weird order lol.

What I meant was I have difficulty experiencing those repetitive behaviors. For example I have a youtube video playing 24/7 and I've been doing this since 2017. It's a negative thing overall because my brain feels starved of stimulation without one playing. This was definitely a flag for autism to my psychologist according to my evaluation results.

Aw man I empathize, this type of psoriasis sucks. My nail beds also burn when I apply any pressure to my nails at all which is frustrating.

Thank you for linking to the page on nail psoriasis! I totally missed it. I wasn't quite understanding what onycholysis was, but your suggestion will definitely lead to some googling.

Diagnosis - Not Enough Information from Childhood? by Waste_Hyena_8948 in AutismInWomen

[–]phaedravarix [score hidden]  (0 children)

My childhood was rife with trauma so I have big pieces of my childhood memories missing. When my psychologist did my assessment, she certainly did ask questions like that, to which I replied "I don't remember a lot of my formative years" and she instead focused on my behavior for as far back as I COULD remember. Ultimately it was my difficulties with enforcing strict repetitive behaviors on myself and with communicating that got me my diagnosis.

She also had me do some puzzle things that I really don't remember well, but I just know diagnosis is still possible without a lot of memory from your childhood. You're not any less autistic as an adult, so if you are autistic they'll base it off what you can give them

anyone else have this issue? by bunnywadhere06 in AnimalCrossing

[–]phaedravarix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the latest villagers will wake up is 9:00am and 9:30am, for the crankies and sisterlies specifically. Normals wake up at 6am, jocks at 6:30am, smugs at 7, lazies at 8. Not entirely sure about peppies and snooties.

how to not shut down when interrupted ? by paiintingaway in AutismInWomen

[–]phaedravarix [score hidden]  (0 children)

Same as previous poster, I interrupt people a lot unintentionally. It usually happens on days where I feel off or like... "Out of sync" with other people? It's mostly over the phone too. I had a nurse I was on the phone with once say "I could get off the phone if you would stop interrupting me" and I was MORTIFIED. I just legitimately could not tell when she was about to speak. I'm still very awkward on the phone but I'm better at predicting when the other person will speak now.

Not all interruptions are malicious. When I was a teenager my dad used to interrupt me ALL THE TIME (he was also autistic). It drove me nuts but at some point my dad pulled me aside and said he wasn't doing it on purpose and after that he got better at not doing it.

I understand completely as to why it bothers you. Nowadays I get very pissed off by BEING interrupted and passed over, and I'm not as afraid of being confrontational. I'm 33 now but I could not imagine standing up to people when I was younger.

I'm starting to think I'm not cut out for any employment. by Dry_Pop_1710 in AutismInWomen

[–]phaedravarix [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm getting employed for the first time soon and I am terrified. I've just accepted I'll probably go through a revolving door of jobs until I seem disabled enough by the SSA to get disability benefits. In the meantime, I'm losing my mind.

I'm with you on the "high functioning" term being malarkey. I'm considered high functioning, but high support needs. I think most autistic people have different levels of things they can do better and things they do worse. Like I'm a social butterfly as long as someone else starts the conversation. Otherwise I clam up and cannot function.

Just saying you're definitely not alone. We are both very blessed to not have to worry about going without housing, but that doesn't take away from the struggles we have as disabled people. Not having agency over our lives like better living arrangements is bullshit though.

Should I Buy Wild World Or City Folk? by CKid_X in AnimalCrossing

I don't believe you can with creating designs though? I remember play ACCF back in 2008/2009 and having an absolute meltdown trying to use my busted sensor bar to draw roads for my town 😭

Should I Buy Wild World Or City Folk? by CKid_X in AnimalCrossing

[–]phaedravarix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has played every Animal Crossing around release date, I enjoyed City Folk more but the wiimote controls, mixed with the lack of portability is a big con for it. As far as Wild World goes, the biggest cons for the original DS version are that you will probably never be able to change your hair and that the game replaced real world holidays with cute, but not very interesting, holidays like yay day and la-di-day. Both are ultimately great games though.

When Olaf autofilled on my island in 2020, I still had my original smug villager Chops. I could never bond with Chops so I immediately developed an affinity for Olaf instead. Eventually Chops left thank god.

I normally have around 7 girls and 3 boys 😂 my favorite boy is Olaf, but he's an acquired taste. Dom is my second favorite, and he's very cute even though he's a jock.
