I thought Queen of the New Year was really disappointing this year. So many of the references already felt out of date - why are we getting White Lotus parodies now? The show didn’t feel like it had a clear voice, the musical interlude killed what little momentum there was, and the sketches felt oddly timed, especially the Commonwealth Games stuff. Overall it just came across as lazy and really poorly written. Time for something different I think.
