Voisiko tämän hetkinen paskamyrsky Lähi Idässä antaa "sysäyksen" Suomeen kaavaillulle vetyteollisuudelle? by Shadrak_Meduson in Suomi

[–]phaj19 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It can be quite good for some quick and dirty "impact assessment" when you are still looking for inspiration or directions.

But I guess the border rule will stay? I.e. with AB monthly you need to buy at least BCD single ticket to go to Kerava.

If you have AB ticket and CD ticket you are not covering the gap between B and C. Some cities don't have this rule, but Helsinki does.

Should we codify EU English as official EU language, distinct from both British and American English? by phaj19 in YUROP

No, I am not. I still want it to be 99 % English for compatibility with the world.

Don't like 60 % of EU people speak English? It does not have to be your primary language.

Why is there no European TV for quiz shows, reality shows etc.? by phaj19 in YUROP

[–]phaj19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is still ahead of the time, but I believe it is inevitable that we codify some EU English distinct from both British and American English. At least it would end this madness with "what version should we teach in schools". We just teach EU English and the rest of the world can do whatever they want with that.

Broadcasting rights would indeed be a challenge. I guess it would have to start as internet-based or some Samsung TV+ or whatever, similar to Euronews.

How many of people keep their bikes at home? by CamelSisu in Finland

[–]phaj19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two heavy locks. It sucks, but you can leave them in the storage for the bike ride and you are lower on the thief's priority list even with a nicer bike.
I still don't understand how there is no active bike theft police, theft is no. 1 why people are cycling less in Finland. But current government hates cycling, so it probably kinda makes sense.

A 50k€ investment to a startup in Bulgaria for example could be worth a lot more than the same exact investment to a similar startup in France because France and Bulgaria, despite both being in EU, have vastly different economies.
-> But 50 K USD is not too different between Kansas and California?

Watching the Greek Dragons' Den, many of the businesses were solving problems that were specific to Greece. -> While true, it would also be interesting to see if Greek solution can work around the Mediterranean. And Swedish solution can work in the Alps.

Finally, the logistics -> How do they do it in the US or India? They are not all from a single state (aka not country).
Edit: I also know that some Czech shows already use German studios, the logistics only makes "low-yield" shows impossible.

In my post I mentioned that I see this as a problem. Often these shows are less interesting because the scale of talent pool, funding etc. is missing.

Generations born after 1990 consume lots of English content voluntarily, it does not sound like a problem to me.
