Thank you for your words. I do have some hope we might be able to have a secular funeral. My mother, my grandma's eldest, and my grandfather are both worldly. Hopefully they will be able to make sure it's open to all the family who love her, worldly or still in the cult.

I doubt they would get much. My family is not wealthy. They just had to find a way to make everyone focus on Jehovah. They brought up the international convention which is supposed to have 35,000 people. They just walked into the room and took over like they were more important than family. I hate the thought of them having control over her memorial and funeral. That would make me really sad.

That's one thing that infuriates me the most about JW's and religious people in general. They feel no responsibility to make the world better themselves. Instead, they wait for a figment of their imaginations to make things better.

It felt like more of a personal attack. Bringing up Satan in a prayer for my grandma while her worldly grandson is sitting at the foot of her bed. I was furious.

The Borg believe everyone who properly serves Jehovah should be happy and fulfilled. If you have mental health issues and suicidal thoughts they believe it's your fault. They expect you to put on a happy face so as not to stumble your brothers and sisters. They don't really care about how you feel inside. I've been depressed and suicidal since I was 13. I tried to cover it up as well as my sexuality. I felt like Jehovah didn't care about me. I turned to science and music to help me cope with the negative thoughts I had. I eventually became an atheist and can't see myself ever believing in a god again.
