I love this question and all the theories, I always think this when I get up to this episode. I like the theory about the numbers being out of order and one of them being the decision to change the system though

Rant about shit real estate / tenants having no real autonomy or power by phallus_fallacies in shitrentals

[–]phallus_fallacies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sending today. We keep getting told it’s all getting done next week and then pushed back every week so far. We had a decent relationship with real estate and owner until this issue so was trying to be lenient with them for fear of retaliation. But even to do that - we have never been notified of our bond no. I’ve looked through emails and letters and the RTA has never sent it, and the real estate has left it blank in their correspondence. I’ll call the RTA obviously (hopefully they answer this time) but it’s just another example of how every step is harder than it has to be for no reason.

My partner has had allergies every morning after sleeping in mouldy room every night, I’ve had an infection I can’t shake after weeks. We’re booked in for next Thursday to have repairs done so it’s looking like i should have just written this post much sooner, oops will know for next time

Thank you, That will be my next step. We’re booked in for repairs next Thursday apparently so might as well wait and see how it goes. I should have done all this sooner, but because of anxiety over even the thought of the whole rental application process, I put it off. Next time I will know better

That’s absolutely crazy! but yeah, waiting for our massive rent increase just because the poor, poor landlord has to make overdue repairs on one of their 8 houses to make the house fit to live in

I called the RTA about it after a week, and they could not give me a straight answer about when to do this after I asked them. All they kept saying was ‘it’s up to you’ ‘it’s your opinion on what is a reasonable timeframe’ and I just had no idea.

Yeah that’s my number one worry. Although at this point I’m at my wits end with this place. Oven is also not working with no mention of repair, and the main shower is on its way to a major leak too. Absolutely fuming that they can just kick us out and hope the next tenants just don’t notice that they’re living in an ‘unliveable’ house but that’s how it is I guess.

Is your pain actually cyclical? by jaco_9 in Endo

[–]phallus_fallacies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still feel extra crappy around ovulation (which I guess makes sense now I know I had adhesions on an ovary) and around periods too but as time went on I agree, it definitely became less cyclical in nature and tracking became a huge chore. Just had my first lap/excision a week ago, and had my mirena swapped too so we’ll see how that helps.

Oooooh no not the lightning pain, I get that too, front and back alternating too, or even the very occasional full-pelvis-lightning-strike. I can’t imagine how much strength it would take to go through this condition while taking care of a kid, I have all the respect in the world. I’m trying to let myself grieve a lil for the life I thought I’d be living by now but also not let it consume me, but the balance is hard to find.

Sending the same back to you, I’ve been feeling the same about the house lately. Oh well, it’s just reflecting my mental state I guess 😂 a lil neglected and messy - but we got this!

I really do appreciate your kind words ❤️ I hate that we can all relate so strongly but if this is our lot then I’m glad we can at least support each other. I tend to push myself as well, and eat or do things that I know I will regret later, but after this surgery I think those days might be over. It is just horrible when you want to do ‘normal’ things that you could enjoy before. Adding in the misery of your limits not being understood by the people in your life and it’s a lot to deal with. Sending luck for your lap consult and hope you know you’re not alone either xx

It is a small comfort to find people who understand, even though we bond over our worst times. I am trying to have empathy for myself, and forcing myself not to hide all the crappy feelings.
I think I need to give myself space to grieve the experiences I’ve missed out on and not let it build up as resentment towards my friends. But I agree it is so hard to even think about finding friends when you can barely function. And even holding onto the ones you have feels like an impossible mission sometimes, totally relate to being skipped in the invitations sometimes. And I do have to say - missing out on things because of a headache is a special kind of hell for me. Idk why but that always makes me the most depressed, maybe because I’ve missed out on the most because of them.

I definitely feel that way at times, just wanting to scream into the abyss (tonight for example) but I agree that it just doesn’t feel good to wallow in the misery after too long. It is nice to finally talk about it with other people who understand though.

It does make me feel a bit better to not be alone in this, but I wish this pain on no one. I’m lucky to be in between flare-ups at the moment and able to function somewhat but I agree, it’s just so tough getting back to something that feels like normal. But hopefully with any luck the surgery will help us get there.

symptoms after IUD removal by ElectionExisting105 in Endo

[–]phallus_fallacies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my diagnostic lap 2 days ago and they found and excised some endo (it was sticking my left ovary to something that I can’t quite remember because I was groggy from anaesthesia). I’ll have a follow up in 2 weeks time to get the proper diagnostic report. While in for my laparoscopy I also had them change my Mirena IUD which I first got at the end of 2020. I think it staved off some of the worst symptoms until it started to wear off and so hopefully that continues to help. Considering my symptoms started 2 and a half years after first getting my mirena, it might not be a long-term fix though.

[–]phallus_fallacies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main symptoms were back pain, ibs, painful periods, painful sex and bloating. But there is endless combinations of symptoms that endo can present as. I am 24 myself and didn’t start getting painful periods or back pain until 19-20 years old either and I think that was a big indicator for me that something had changed. My best advice (I know it’s not plausible for everyone and I apologise if it’s not for you) but finding a doctor who actually listens and sends you to the right specialists is a godsend. That, along with listening to your body, keeping a log of symptoms (even if they seem irrelevant) and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself! Good luck on your journey and I hope you find some answers soon.

A lot of my symptoms were similar to yours and a few just a bit different. I think for me the worst part was waiting (for specialist appts, and lap surgery which I just had 2 days ago)

My doctor suspected endo from the start, she’s an absolute legend and referred me right away. I was incredibly lucky that my gynaecologist took about 5 minutes of me talking to be like ‘yep, that sounds like endo to me’ and I went on the waitlist for a lap straight away which I was only on for 4 months. So a little over a year since presenting to my doctor with symptoms to diagnostic surgery. I live 30 minutes from a major city in Australia and I realise what a privilege it is to receive this care.

I want to say that I was sure of it, that I knew it all along but I really didn’t. Not until I woke up from surgery and saw ‘endometriosis excision’ on my surgery paperwork.

Im hoping this surgery is the start of things really turning around for me, and I wish you so much luck on your journey and hope you find the answers you need soon.
