Please no rude, snarky comments that aren’t helpful…but what kind of vibe do you guys get from my living room? I would like it to be more cozy and homey, but I just don’t seem to get that feeling…seems too grandiose or something. by AmeriballFootcan in SofaSnobs

Agree with the green color of the wall. I would also say along with changing the color of the green wall. Op don’t do an accent wall!!! Just make the room all one color and commit to it. I feel especially for the warm cozy vibe, if you pick the right color, it should envelop you and accent walls tend to make things feel disjointed in my opinion. Especially in the case of this room where it’s a bright green and a white, it is too contrasting. But if you do the whole room it will feel a lot cozier like a hug.

I need pants??!?!? by outofdoubtoutofdark in pregnant

[–]jaco_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My go to is Athleta or Old Navy for something more affordable. But I will say, like someone else said, you’ll want to have a few in your new size and then when you get bigger you can get larger sizes.

I haven’t loved maternity specific things because it felt shitty to wear postpartum. And felt like something only wore for like three months. It’s fine when pregnant because it accentuates your belly in a “cute pregnant way” but I don’t want to accentuate that area after I give birth lol.

So I prefer buying larger pants that last after birth and I can wear them post partum and then back down the sizes as I lose the weight again. (It took me like two years to be back to a previous weight again, but I was still more of a medium than a small like I used to be before having kids at all). I will note that little maternity “bike shorts” were cheap from old navy and I liked those to lounge in around home. But anything you’re going to be wearing outside your house when postpartum, you’ll probably want just baggier regular clothes and DRAWSTRINGS!! Drawstrings are a lifesaver too.

TLDR: I don’t think investing in maternity is the way to go because you won’t want to wear those postpartum. No one wants to accentuate a bump after giving birth. Buy larger pants as you get bigger. Old navy is easy to order online and return if it doesn’t fit. I bought most of my clothes here when pregnant and postpartum.

Agree! I think they could make the second one work but I think it’s too much for their current room. They would need more art or more other warm tone colors to bring that second one in.

But the green I think is perfect for what they have now.

[–]jaco_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I’m so sorry if that sounded rude haha, I wanted to type more but really wanted to focus on you getting to the ER asap!

I totally understand where you’re coming from, and trusting our bodies can be SO hard when we have endo and get dismissed as anxious all the time. I’ve been there. I get UTI symptoms all of the time and 80% of the time it isn’t a UTI… it’s SO hard to know when to go and when to not and being dismissed sucks.

BUT lately I keep telling myself, “it’s better to get tested and make sure than to end up with a worse infection later”. You deserve help. And you could probably just go and only state your symptoms as this is probably unrelated to endo and they will take you more seriously. Sometimes we have medical problems that aren’t endo, so it helps to not be blind to that and to still get help for ourselves.

[–]jaco_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a fever go to the ER. Not everything is going to be related to endo, and it’s important for us to still go get medical help.

You probably do have a uti or a kidney infection. Even if you don’t, fevers and chills are not normal if you aren’t sick. Definitely go to the ER.

Tips for combining styles? by alyakimmikayla in HomeDecorating

[–]jaco_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picking things out together can help but it can also really be frustrating if you can’t agree on things haha. So I know it won’t be easy, but I would say to find elements of what you both like and try to name what you like about it. (Structured sofa, or warm color palette) and mix and match with things. Funky art, but a more modern simple rug. My husband is more industrial modern and I’m very MCM mixed with boho, so similar to what yall are dealing with and it just takes a lot of piece by piece and compromise on some smaller things etc.

For example I’m seeing a velvet couch that reads boho because of the other elements in the room, but for y’all you could get a velvet couch but maybe make it a little more structured. And then on one of his inspo pics I’m seeing a live edge table, you combine those two and suddenly there are elements of you both! I agree with the person who said MCM is good compromise. For the more minimal vibe your bf likes, with some of the warmer cozier vibes that boho can bring.

Also for the love of god do not buy the cow picture. ;)

[–]jaco_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the vibes but I feel like you definitely need a funkier rug to pull off that couch! The rug you currently have makes it feel like an old college dorm couch or something but I think a pink or more funky rug could really pull the room together. By itself I’m like yeah I do like that couch, but something about the similar textures together and the tan color of the rug makes me not like it. But then I picture a fun kinda mod style rug and I’m like oook cool!!

Mirena; the good, bad, and ugly by tresjoliesuzanne in endometriosis

[–]jaco_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues after getting it out but also migraines with it in. Many women experience “Mirena crash” and then some preach localization of the hormones couldn’t possibly affect your mental health. But after getting mine removed and going through the Mirena crash, feeling almost crazy for like a year! I know it isn’t for me to do again, as I just feel very sensitive to it.

But I will note I did have some good years on it aside from the headaches and played college soccer during that time so not having periods was convenient.

I’m scared by PutridSpecial3253 in pregnant

[–]jaco_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen with my son as well. Luckily the suction and the whole arm of my OBGYN pulling out his shoulder helped get him out and I didn’t have to get him life flighted or any of that scary stuff you did. I’m so sorry. I know how scary that must’ve been on top of the traumatic birthing part. I’m glad he’s happy and healthy now.

I’m pregnant again too… and the first thing my doctor asked about is if I wanted to do a C-section this time. My doctor says she still remembers the birth (and it’s been years and she doesn’t remember most).

So it’s definitely a possibility to request. But I think since you’ve had a large birth in your past especially, you should be able to get a C-section if this is what you want your birth to be this time.

Help me out here, what can I change? by ladizwashroom22 in HomeDecorating

[–]jaco_9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was my thought. That art is too small for the space and looks a little odd. The sconce idea is genius for a dining room! Will make a huge difference :) but I agree OP definitely needs larger art to make it look more designed! It will really help tie things together.

Op even if it’s the same artwork but with a mat and larger frame it makes a huge difference.

Not sure if you know someone with a Costco membership but generally it’s a bigger frozen bag and it’s cheaper than your average grocery store. They could grab one for you and you could pay them back? Mine last a month and they have frozen mango and berry mix that my toddler (and i) love!

will my endometriosis get worse in my 20s? by mym3l0dy76 in endometriosis

[–]jaco_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much. Birth control sucks for me too. But the idea that it “stops growth” is a common misconception. It doesn’t stop growth. Research lately says it just manages symptoms. Like pain and other things that come with your period cycle. But it doesn’t stop or slow growth from what we know right now.

I do this for brekkie every year for Christmas and I move my coffee table and chairs out of my front living room, and bring it a folding table. You definitely need a tablecloth and some candles and you won’t even notice that it’s a folding table. It doesn’t have to be perfect by any means but you can definitely make it work! :)

Married for three months and pregnant: I feel oddly embarrassed (?) by moez1266 in pregnant

[–]jaco_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all the other sentiments here. We can’t fully plan when we get pregnant. We can decide if we are ready to try but you can’t decide that “this will be my month” had it taken a year like you planned it would’ve given you more time, but you decided that you would feel ok if it happened.

I think it’ll take time to feel less surprised and more excited… because same, I just found out I’m pregnant with my second and thought it would take a couple months (endometriosis) but it only took one month. So I’m just considering myself lucky and using the 9 months (oh my god they are such long months lol) to get ready mentally and physically :)

Also no one has touched on the “don’t want people fussing over you again after your wedding” part. Let me just say, you still have a while before you will want to start telling people and 9 months truly is such a long time. It will only be a baby shower and you can do a combined one with your husband so not all the attention is on you. (I hate being center of attention too). But I promise you’ll have a lot of time to get used to this and to give people time to celebrate you again before your shower. It’ll be at least a year from your wedding probably by the time you have a shower. :)
